TlDR: a suggestion to renew maps/cycle through different versions of maps to avoid folks who memorize the maps ruining everyone’s fun, and a suggestion for a consequence for non-hiders (becoming auto seekers after two minutes).
First suggestion - Overhaul the maps. All of them - especially the older ones. People have spent COUNTLESS hours memorizing these maps in custom games. They then jump into the public games, sit idle in front of the seeker spawn, and then run through the entire map eliminating every hider block based off their memorization of it in under two minutes. It isn’t classified as cheating, but it does wreck the fun of it for everyone else and puts the obnoxious fun-suckers at the top of the leaderboard for all of eternity when they don’t even make an effort to actually do any hiding. The maps need to change (would be cool if there were multiple versions of each map with different changes each time, tbh) - with more spaces to hide that aren’t well known, and we need more maps for more variety (there’s TONS of Java maps we don’t get on Bedrock, for instance). Blocks also need to MATCH the environment (Looking at you Pripyat, with your dark oak stairs and spruce leaves…) and there need to be more challenging places to hide that aren’t so easily accessed, so seekers need to work for it.
Secondly, I know I’ll probably get mowed over for this, but I’m suggesting it anyway, cause I’m tired of watching people run around and bully seekers and having the seekers quit. Then I get dragged outta my nice, cozy hiding spot because I’ve been randomly selected to replace them… That, or they run around in circles (and because they’ve got a speed boost AND knockback they’re nearly impossible to catch without getting lucky) and send the Seekers on wild goose chases for the full four minutes. The game is called HIDE and Seek. If people wanna go smack other folks with a sword, they should go play Skywars or Bedwars. In my humble and I’m sure probably unpopular opinion, there ought to be an in-game punishment for refusing to hide. My suggestion is that after two minutes of not being hidden, you automatically become a seeker, yourself.
I’m not holding my breath these suggestions will happen, but here they are, anyway. I’m frail. Be gentle LOL.
Thatd get annoying real fast, seeking is a fine way to play the game it just needs heavy nerfs that effect party play while not punishing good solo seekers (parkour spots, many more (preferably large) maps, etc
FR we need more parkour spots, and hive removed 2 a while back as well (plasma and pripyat, 2 of the worst maps for hiders anyways)
what
no, running is usually the only way to win vs seeker mains and even then its inconsistent, if you dislike seeker mains how can u dislike runners as well we distract seeker mains so low levels can win , also its just the most fun way to play
All in all I can understand completely where you’re coming from, but try to create a post per suggestion instead of putting them all in 1 post so people can vote for individual ideas. Hive mods r prob gunna close this bc of that, rip.
Since absurd had said most of I wanted to say, I won’t say much.
Those top on leaderboards most excel on all roles: hider, runner, seeker.
I once main hns and I’ve experienced similar things, but now I would say all is skill issue.
We remember map because we played too much, if there’s variation we could just hit randomly to search which is really fast on computer.
We tease seeker and run around, because this is fun and thrilling, if seeker can’t catch us, it’s also skill issue.
Seems to me to be a bigger skill issue not to be able to Hide. The game isn’t called TAG. It’s literally called HIDE and seek. Sounds to me like the real problem is folks aren’t creative enough to find places Seekers won’t find them, so they’ve turned the game into another Skywars/Bedwars runaround. I don’t chase as a seeker, ever. Not only is it extremely frustrating to try and chase people on a touchpad on a laptop, but it’s also a massive waste of time and it ruins the fun for the people playing the game the way it was intended. Plenty of people out there want to play right but runners wreck it because nine out of ten times they’re obnoxious and come up and smack the seeker to lure them into a chase. It gets to be borderline bullying at points, with runners hitting seekers so much the seeker ends up having to respawn - which is why a number of times people just straight up quit as seeker, causing other players to get pulled from hiding to be randomly chosen. If you’re hiding and a seeker finds you, then I can understand running to escape/rehide, but not even attempting to hide isn’t a skill - it’s an antiskill.
well first, some maps are harder for hiders to find a suitable place to hide like pripyat, even noob seekers can memorize most spots after a few rounds, so if hiders want to win they need to run constantly.
For hitting seeker, if the hider want to seek they would hit seeker to let them kill, usually they wouldn’t run away. Also most runner bullying actually not a very good runner, it’s easy to catch. Another reason I felt is the seeker is too noob so hiders want to get that seeker kill (you should have seen that statistics)
If you feel chasing is exhausted, just don’t chase and find those hiding one, if they got up again just hit randomly to at least take one down.
I’ve also used mobile phone to play before the new touch control come out. If you still find annoying, switch to computer or console or find a client on mobile with toggled sprint
