Skill-Based Matchmaking For Treasure Wars

It’s exactly what it sounds like. Casual players play with casual players, while the elite players who prestige can play against each other. Elite players play to rank up or to move up the leaderboard while casual players play to have fun or to do quests which the elite players don’t care about. The problem is is that elite players can form a party of up to 8, play in TW Mega where all 8 elite players will be guaranteed to be put on the same team and easily destroy any team they’re up against. When they’re put up against the low level or inexperienced players, they’re not presented with any challenge. I myself was up against one of these elite players with a stone sword and all he/she had was their fist and they still won the fight because I was put into a combo that I couldn’t break out of. I was trying to do a quest but the exact same party of players kept getting put into the same lobby I was already in and I couldn’t make any progress. It’s not a challenge for them because they have experience with the gamemode and they play win and not for enjoyment. It’s not fun for the casual players who lose over & over again to these kinds of players and I’m sure it’s not fun for the elites either since they don’t even break a sweat and are not presented with any sort of challenge. I suggest that the game searches for players who have prestiged and puts all of them in the same match and does the same with players who are level 1-100 (not prestiged). To prevent jailing prestiged players, (not being able to play at all because there aren’t enough prestiged players that are playing at the time of queueing) if there are not enough prestiged players playing, then and only then will the game search for any match to put them in. At the end of the day, the server is about having fun and it’s just not fun for the people who play the game casually to be hit with a roadblock in their Treasure Wars related quest that is a party of elite players put on the opposing team.

Yeah but skilled people can just make alts to be with the casual players

And you can be prestiged and be total garbage at the game

If you don’t find the game enjoyable, don’t play it

Youre not forced to play it

This is the reason why fortnite failed

like i said here level doesnt = skill

  1. What benefit do those players get from making an alt just to start over?
  2. You’re saying prestiged players = bad
  3. I agree, if it’s not enjoyable, I don’t play it
  4. You are forced to play it if you’re doing a quest that involves Treasure Wars (“Well you’re not forced to pick up that quest” What if they want the QP that comes from it?)

people do this all the time idk why

  1. People just do it
  2. I said some
  3. It’s the same thing, just don’t do them

level generally gives a decent representation of skill or experience. It may not totally be the only the to show skill, but to some degree it does and it definitely shows experience.

No, it’s not

My brother has a pretty decent level and he is the worst at the game

okay cool, good for them.
then it’s not a substantial amount of people.

I explained this already

what’s “decent level”?

Level 30-40 something iirc

that’s less then 50% of max level. It’s subjective to say that’s a decent level

Still need to make it fair for everyone, espically people on mobile

Speaking of mobile, theres not a lot of high level mobile players, the queues won’t fill for high lvl plyrs

This suggestion wasn’t for matching people on the same platform. The Hive already does that anyway for mobile players if enough people are playing Treasure Wars at the time of queueing.

That’s what I mean

The mobile queue won’t fill up

Theres barely a lot of high lvl players on mobile

So longer queues that possibly won’t fill

no, that’s what you were implying. Since Minecraft Bedrock is multiple platforms, it would match them regardless of what platform they’re playing on.

Uh uh

No way

Player based matchmaking is a thing

You can’t just replace that with sbm

That’s just gonna cause more problems

Users were already nagging for pbm

and this is why I said “if there are not enough prestiged players playing, then and only then will the game search for any match to put them in.” in my suggestion. I’m saying prioritize skill based matchmaking and then if there’s not enough people playing, then they get put into any match.

I agree with this post but there are major issues that come along with it.

See in a game like minecraft specially bedrock where there is multiple platforms plus multiple ways to play the game it becomes a challenge to really balance the matchmaking.
Like some people said, level doesn’t always mean higher skill cap. I am level 80 and I play like a blob, I’m not good at all.

Secondly, this type of matchmaking will happen if we have a seperate queue for this. So let’s say a separate catagory named “ranked” because if this is implemented in normal queues it would take really long queue times to get a match as there aren’t that many players who are high level playing the game at the same time.

Let’s take a scenario where this is implemented, like @anon57930395 said, people can very easily create alts to play with lower level players just for fun or to make those players feel bad. This is a major issue with all popular games like fortnite and even valorant. This is called smurfing and will be really frustrating to deal with.

The Hive’s system already works like that though. Mobile players are matched with mobile players IF there are enough people online that are playing to match them with. If there are not enough people online, then you can see mobile players being thrown into pc and console lobbies. It would be the same with my suggestion. IF there are enough prestige and non prestige players online,, then skill based matchmaking is put into play and if there are not, oh well, the lobbies are mixed just like with mobile and pc/console players.
