Remove the "You Purchased: x..." chat message

In Bedwars’ current state, for each item you purchase in the shop it sends you its own message in chat saying “You Purchased: x”.

This was a new addition from the transition from Treasure Wars and in my opinion this feature is quite simply not needed and in some cases even detrimental to certain players.

The way in which Minecraft’s chat UI works means that all of the messages are simultaneously loaded upon exiting the inventory ui style shop. This may not seem like a problem, however in some occasions (more often on mid to low range devices) this can lead to large frame drops after leaving the shop.

If you’re trying to quickly buy some items during your spawn protection time and have your game pause for sometimes up to 2 seconds, this can cost you severely in game.

In addition to causing frame drops, it is also inconvenient as it clogs up the chat which takes up unnecessary screen space and also makes it harder to find important chat messages that may have useful information about the game (such as faster gens or what team eliminated who so you know where they are etc.)

Overall I just think that this feature should be removed, and I hope that the Hive and anyone reading agrees

Then just don’t maas buy items if your device can’t handle it? I’d rather not have Hive take the time to remove this instead of working on cool new things. Also, you don’t know what Hive’s code looks like so don’t tell me “Oh it’s an easy fix just remove one line of code”

A. It can happen with anything upwards of like 4 buys, which I would not consider ‘mass’ buying. Also there are most definitely situations where it is very much needed such as quick buying lots of blocks when you need to get away. And simply saying if your device can’t handle it is just very anti low performance players, which is not at all what Hive is about.

B. It is almost 99% a one line code within an item purchase handling function, which would append the item name passed into it onto the end of a reference to the correct translated text for the player

I agree, i have a descent laptop but at least at the start of game and using it it takes around 5 seconds for it to close the menu which is very annoying so am glad your now pointing this out.

I totally agree with you. I thought I was the only one with the chat problem. Voted

And also please let them change the sound you hear when purchasing. It’s annoying, especially when you buy a lot of things, at least in my opinion. There are other, more pleasant sounds in the game that can replace it.

Erm, he actually improves hives coding and adds several things like pop-up notifications on screen so it really could be 1 line of code.

Brilliant idea! Why wouldn’t you want less laggier games?

This will solve my problems with the shop menu
:D

Nice Idea Jzen! You Play with Switch and I Play with a Phone from 2017. this Idea NEEDS To be Added Because Hive’s most players play on a Low-end Device. VOTED! :sunglasses:

They could add this with Region agnostic.
(Cause it is ping [game] related)

Voted because that’s been annoying me.

But explain how it’s:

I had to look up what that meant… For all you wondering, it means ‘tending to cause harm’.

This is a great idea, but I kinda like seeing my chat flooded after I buy in bulk lol

In settings thing?

Yeah as a toggle. Good thought.

I play on multiple devices, and one is low end. The Nintendo switch lite. I have absolutely no lag with that even when I purchase a million items, so what’s the point???

If you allow me to answer that, I would benefit from them changing this, since the chat text becomes very invasive on the screen when purchasing many things at once.

And it would let me read the level up messages firsthand, know what I earned, the name of the cosmetics I unlocked. Sometimes you don’t have time to read them in the chat because of the intensity of the fighting, and when you want to stop and read them, they are no longer there.

The purchase sound is enough (which I don’t like either, the sound it’s annoying in my opinion). It would depend on yourself not to buy an object by mistake. In my opinion.

I haven’t seen a level up message since 6/19/24 :skull: (The day I maxed bw.) but yeah now I get it, voted.

The Lag comes from the count of the letters. if hive changed “You Purchased x” to “- x” it would be better

it’s spelled “If”, and I’m not try’na be your english teacher here.

Not the level up, Jzen Means The Purchase message.

I know, I still wonder how the message can actually cause a person harm.

Also,

…what? please explain further.
