Punishment System for Players Who Repeatedly Leave CTF Match

Idea:

I would like to suggest adding a punishment system for players who repeatedly leave CTF (Capture the Flag) matches early.

More information:

I mainly experience this issue in CTF. In many CTF matches, the game starts with 12 players, but after a short time, several players leave and sometimes only 4 players are left. This makes the match extremely frustrating and unfair for the players who stay and actually want to play.

I have not really experienced this problem in the other game modes, but it happens quite often in CTF. I think CTF should have a system where players who repeatedly leave matches receive a temporary matchmaking restriction or another appropriate penalty.

Players who disconnect because of a genuine connection issue could be treated differently, but players who intentionally leave repeatedly should receive a temporary penalty.

I really enjoy playing CTF on The Hive, but this issue can make some matches very frustrating. I hope you can consider adding a system to discourage players from repeatedly leaving CTF matches.

Thank you for reading and considering my suggestion.

I agree with this idea, I kind of hope all game modes can have this system. Also welcome to Hive Forums, I hope your idea passes.

No thanks. I don’t want to worry about being punished because my opponents are making me not enjoy a game. That will just lead to less players overall. Plus, if someone doesn’t want to play anymore, they might just sabotage their own team or get spawnkilled on purpose.

Sorry, but no vote from me.

But why do they leave matches 10–20 times in a row every time, even when different maps come up? I’m honestly getting tired of this. A ban system is urgently needed, just like in cs2.

The problem isn’t the maps, it’s the opponents.

Picture this:

You’re a level 10 who just got on for the day and wants to play some CTF. You’re not that good but you’re fairly decent. Suddently, five players join and they’re all level 40-50. Now when the game starts, you have level 5s, 15s, 1s and maybe 20s if lucky, while they have players with hundreds if not thousands of games WON. Yoy can see why a lot of people leave.

Sadly, a big problem with this is that this game is run so much by those players keeping it active that you can rarely get a game (unless at perfect times in 5m or more) without sweats. This typically means that for every 10 games, 9 will have sweats. This leads to players leaving all their games trying to find one where they can have fun.

If someone isn’t having fun, I wouldn’t be mad if they left. Sure I won’t have fun either, but it’s more of an issue with the game than the fun seekers.

I definitely agree that the problem isn’t just the maps, but the players. I think a proper rank system is really needed too. I’m a level 50 player myself, and I come across a lot of level 1–20 players, which can definitely get frustrating sometimes.

There are also games where the enemy team has 6 max-level players, while some players on my own team don’t even know what they’re supposed to do. In situations like that, carrying the entire game almost by myself becomes extremely difficult.

I think a proper ranked system could help a lot by putting players against others with a similar level of experience and skill. It would make matches much more balanced and enjoyable for everyone.

I also think there definitely needs to be a ban system for players who repeatedly leave lobbies. For example, if someone leaves 3–5 lobbies in a row, they could receive a minimum 20-hour ban, similar to how it works in CS2. If they keep doing it, the ban could gradually increase, up to 7 days. I think this would seriously reduce the number of players constantly leaving matches.

Which is why it would be fair if you don’t want to play. The game just isn’t fair.

This literally could not happen just because there’s not enough players. Even BedWars, a game with 8k players might struggle to do ranked, let alone a game with over 16x less players.

It would also reduce players that join. This might just be me, but I usually use things less if I’m worried I’ll lose it if things go wrong. If players are afraid to get banned from CTF, they might just not play it because they don’t want to gamble fun and a game they try to play.

also if the games prolongs and everyone js kill eachother

In CS2, I experience the situation you mentioned every day as well. There are usually 3 or 4 cheaters on the enemy team, and there is nothing we can do. We can neither leave the match nor kill them, so we can only stay AFK and wait. Alternatively, there could be an update for CTF where players who stay AFK eventually get disconnected from the match and therefore have a chance of avoiding a ban. Anything is fine as long as this system is implemented.

Are you positive they are cheating?

Yes, play a competitive match in cs2 and you’ll understand the game is overrun with cheaters.

In sw they also do it, especially @dzrknss this guy ALWAYS DOES THIS but in sw, so its propably simmular to ctf, thats why im bringing sw up, to uderstand the thing better

I could never picture myself being level 10 … jk Punishment System for Players Who Repeatedly Leave CTF Match - #5 by DarthEagle99

Obviously hive’s not gonna add a punishment system but they’ll sure do something about it so we should just vote it for.now

So that at least we can get some actions on this

Something definitely needs to be implemented, something resembling a disciplinary system absolutely needs to be put in place. Some players are quite used to leaving matches as they please. I think if at least a good banning system or something similar is implemented, they will learn their lesson.

And that’s why adding a banning system out of nowhere is a bad idea. If I want to leave, I’m leaving.

If you’re going to leave, then why are you playing?

Well usually I don’t, but if something happens irl or a friend joins I want to be able to leave.

You’re right, when your friend invites you to a match, you’re obligated to leave. But what about this idea: a ban system should be implemented after leaving a match three times in a row? What do you think?

like Darth said the ctf can barely keep one game and a ranked would make sweats quit
