"alt gamemodes" for main gamemodes

Every gamemode would massively benefit from having an alternate mode.

It would be nice to essentially double gamemodes on the hive simply by adding subgamemodes, similar to skywars and skywars kits. Personally, I think this would bring many players back to the hive to try out the alternate way to play their favorite gamemode.

Here are my ideas on potential alternate gamemodes (this section may be long and boring lol):

(In order of me remembering gamemodes)

Skywars- Skywars kits. Not much to say here. I think if this idea is considered, sky-kits needs an update (like adding a few more kits.)

Bedwars- Treasure Wars/Rush Mode. This is going to be controversial, so please leave only constructive criticism in the discussion and not toxicity. The main complaint about Bedwars being on the hive is that the pacing is slower than Treasure Wars was. This could be solved by simply adding Treasure Wars as an alternate gamemode, or by adding an alternate “Rush Mode” where items are cheaper, delivering the faster pace people are upset about. Before you say that someone has already suggested this, I had the idea originally.

Just Build- Alpha Build. This would likely be the least played since extended time sort of functions as an alternate gamemode already, but imagine how creative players could potentially get with a limited block palette, forcing them to make creations that make you say “oh, that’s a clever way to make a [Build]”.

Block Drop- Nemo Slap Drop. Players spawn with 3 Leaps, 2 Knockback Nemos, and 1 Knockback Dory. Mystery loot is also changed to favor Knockback Nemos/Leaps. This would make players think twice about getting too close to everyone, creating more depth of game. Do you go to knock people off, or should you play it safe? (Also, nemo fights imo are really fun.)

Deathrun- Death Parkour. Honestly, I didn’t know how I’d think of this, Gravity, Groundwars, Hide and Seek, or Block Party, but my concept of this gamemode is for the courses turned into parkour courses by largely removing blocks and shortening the maps. There would still be traps of course, but the game would be based more on parkour skill rather than death avoiding skill.

Gravity- Gravity Teams. (I am grasping at straws ) Pretty self explanatory, Average both (or all) team members’ times, fastest adjusted time wins. This is one of my weaker ideas, if anyone has a better suggestion, please tell me lol

Survival Games- OP/Basic Mode. Players can play a gamemode with stronger or weaker items, which grants them more ways to play. Do you like your fights longer, allowing for comebacks, or would you rather play a game where every hit matters? Personally, I think normal SG perfectly strikes a balance in the middle of these two, especially at the end during deathmatch.

Capture The Flag- CTF Kits. Okay, I admit that I stole this idea from Sky-Kits, but I think that CTF Kits would actually make sense. Players could choose kits that grant them explosive powers, better range, or stronger weapons. (I don’t have any specific kit ideas, if you take the time to read this, please suggest some <3) This lets players take specific roles on a team, and it would promote more teamwork in a game that, in my opinion, doesn’t use enough teamwork. Does your team need another archer holding down the fort, or would it make more sense to play a more offensive role? The shop would be for purchasing kit-specific bonuses rather than generalist items in this mode, since it’s not my vision for an archer to be rocking full diamond.

The Bridge- I don’t actually think this gamemode needs an alternate gamemode. The Bridge is a gamemode that lends itself to 1v1s, and I think adding an alternate mode would sort of defeat that originally intended purpose by making it wackier than it needs to be.

Block Party- Chaos Mode. Chaos mode would feature Knockback Boomboxes, Knockback Nemos (PvP items are only on before blocks dissappear.) Chaos mode would also have more than one “safe block” active (e.g purple and blue both wouldn’t dissappear) but the map wouldn’t be completely full at all times either. (e.g orange and red straight up wouldn’t exist some rounds.)

Ground Wars- Infinite Ammo Mode. While there’s nothing crazy added, having infinite ammo fundamentally changes the game. Maybe there could be powerups to disable someone’s shots?

Hide and Seek- Movement Mode (I can’t think of a better name). Both hiders and seekers now have energy. (whoa!) Leap is added, as well as ender pearls. Be warned though; for these consume a lot of energy. (Hiders have less energy than seekers, so they can’t infinitely run) Should you stay in a spot and risk dying, or would it be better to get out of there ASAP?

Murder Mystery- Multiple Murderers. While having multiple murderers doesn’t seem like it’d change much, the game not being over after only one murderer dies would change the game a lot. Also, it’s just FUN to be the murderer, and this would allow that to happen more times.

If you stayed to the end of this post, thank you so much. If you didn’t, thank you anyways. This is your reminder to keep all discussions civil and non toxic. If anyone has better suggestions, it’s greatly appreciated.

well got a feeling that you may not really play non-pvp games.
But get back, actually I’m not sure if adding another mode would benefit the game. For some games it may just make the the queue longer like gw. Some games need to change themselves so they could gain a bit more popularity. Also I felt for some non-pvp games, there’s no need to add another gamemode because there’s already few people playing.
Why hive have more people now, because bedwars and people know it well and enjoy playing it. What about other games, like hns and mm, they have certain playerbase and have higher player number in non-pvp games, but they never reach the player number of bw or sw. That’s the large environment. in my opinion hns, dr, party and gravity is the hive’s four classic game, but now party and gravity only had a few people playing. Almost every server is like this, sw and bw always have the most people, no matter what you do to other games

You are correct, I don’t really play non-PvP gamemodes.
Your first point is something i (somehow) didn’t consider; some games do take a minute to q into and it becomes annoying.
2- The overarching idea here isn’t to make all people play non-PvP gamemodes. My idea is that we can use existing gamemodes to make fun spinoffs that people would like to join/see how their old favorite game is doing.
3- You’re overall right, SW and BW/whatever copy is made will usually be the most popular.

Thank you for your feedback!

Welcome back @callmeneuro!

Rush mode: ye this might be a good choice, I’ve not been playing bedwars recently cause of it’s slow paced play(and that I’m kind of a leaderboard grinder now in ctf) but I think this would be much less player friendly, cause of how easy it would be too rush, sweats would dominate, and it would be very to unfair. TW probably won’t return as a big game.

Alpha Build: I think this would be great as it would be more interesting as it would actually creative, but I think a lot of people would make duplicates tho

Nemo Slap: Ok so just Nemo slap… I like it but would probably be way to chaotic.

Gravity teams: Maybe. Would this be SBMM or PBMM. Also this would be cool.

Op/Basic Games: No why would someone limit themselves like that they could do it by themselves everybody would pick op(unless they didn’t know what it meant)

CTF KITS: ALREADY SUGGESTED Here

Chaos mode: Way to chaotic imo

Infinite ammo mode: This might actually be cool and not limit players. Might be chaotic, but to too much imo.

Movement mode: Hiders get way too big of an advantage I think.

Now here is something. How would you play these games? Also this is slightly similar to This

Hello, kingcjt.

Honestly, I don’t mean these gamemodes as a suggestion, simply the overarching idea of having “alternate” gamemodes

Rush Mode- This is probably the one that would be the most popular. I imagine that the dev team would be able to figure something out, relating to the sweats winning.

Alpha Build- No comment, thanks for the feedback

Nemo Slap- Chaos is the general idea for this, I think it’d play out the way I’d like it to play out, which is chaos.

Gravity Teams- I imagine no matchmaking as gravity doesn’t really have enough players.

OP/Basic SG- I don’t really see a way SG would be changed.

CTF KITS- I didn’t know this was already suggested, but again the overarching idea is my idea, not the individual games.

Chaos mode- Fair. No further comments.

Infinite Ammo Mode- I only worry about machine gunning players being more annoying

Movement Mode- No real way to know without testing; the seekers also get movement items.

How would you play these games? I imagine something similar to the way SKY-KITS is set up.

Didn’t know the idea was similar.

I like Alpha Build, Gravity Teams, and infinite Ammo mode, mostly cause they are good ideas in some of my least favorite games.

Bump!

how about classic bridge (no kits, just plain bridge)
