Treasure Wars welfare gear upon respawn

Long post, TLDR at bottom.

Okay, so just a small intro about what this suggestion is about and why it is being made. This might just be my opinion as I am kind of new to the mode (I have played Bedwars and Skywars before though), but I feel like Treasure Wars (MEGA in particular) is completely unbalanced when it comes to how spawning works, and makes the game one-sided and not fun for newcomers. If someone dies at their base, then it’s pretty much over as they would respawn with absolutely nothing (not even spawn invincibility; in contrast similar modes such as bedwars would provide respawning players with stone/leather gear that they never lose), which gives a player precisely zero chance of fighting back against spawnkilling since they would only be able to smack their opponents with their hands.

I believe that the main reason why rushing is such a predominant tactic is due to there being nearly no drawbacks to employing it under the current spawn rules because an opponent dying near their base would just turn them into a 20HP EXP piñata, who would not pose any threat whatsoever as long as the attacker keeps killing them. In most games similar to Treasure Wars (Bedwars, for example), the rushing side would have to deal with the drawback of not being able to replenish their fighters as quickly, whereas the defenders would be able to replace their losses more quickly (albeit in a weaker state, as they would only still lose advanced gear upon death). This makes it so that bum-rushing the opposing team would have to be done carefully and skillfully, as losses would hurt the attackers more than the defenders. But with the current Treasure Wars mechanics, a defender death near base might as well be a permadeath because that they would spawn with NOTHING on them right in front of a bunch of armoured opponents with swords. One might as well call the game piñata simulator at this point, because that the only fun a defender would have is to die so quickly one could make a catchy tune out of the “oofs”.

Now, to the actual suggestion. I feel like providing some sort of “welfare gear” (items that are automatically equipped upon spawn) such as leather armour with a wooden/stone sword, plus some sort of a spawn invincibility (maybe around 0.5-1 second?) would be nice, so that players who die at their base while it is under attack would have a decent chance at fighting back attackers. And yes, that might make directly rushing the base a bit harder, but attackers are supposed to take out the outer treasures (which would increase defender spawn interval upon destruction) first in order to facilitate an attack on the main treasure. While that certain players may enjoy rushing, I think that rushes being the predominant tactic is absolutely awful for new player retention, because that if a new player’s team successfully rushes the other, the whole thing would probably be over before that they get to the middle island, and if the other team successfully rushes the new player’s team, they would be dead before that they have any chance to learn more about the game mode. And they would be dying over and over again due to only being able to smack them with their hands upon respawning, until that the opposing team puts them out of their misery after taking out the treasure.

TLDR: Treasure Wars should provide a basic amount of equipment that is equipped upon spawn, so that players who respawn while attackers are in their base would not be completely helpless.

There is some, but it goes away if you hit someone.

Anyways, TW’s success is most likely due to how fast paced it is so something like this would ruin that aspect of it. Most servers have some form of bedwars that may be more like the one you are looking for.

Here are some tips that may help you!

  1. Upgrade your generator as fast as you can.
  2. Have the first layer of your treasure defense as concrete, or something like that, with a layer of wool on top of it. (Most players will just think its wool and won’t bring a pickaxe)
  3. Try to keep some extra swords in your enderchest so you can easily defend against players in your base after you die.
