A limited-time skywars mode where you have the chance to get a shield from (probably) gold or emerald ores for a unique style of pvp
And yes, I know that shields are stupidly op in survival Minecraft. Unlike Java, there is no way to break them and all you have to do is hold up your shield and sit in a corner and you are practically invincible. This is why I am not recommending this to actual skywars, but recommending it as an LTM.
However, over much extensive research, I have discovered 3 counters to get around shields.
- Piercing crossbows. Arrows go through shields.
- Punch bows. In bedrock edition, when bows with punch hit a shield, it not only sends the arrow flying right back at you with high speed but also launches the player back by quite a bit, giving you an opening to either hit them in midair or launch them off the map. I know that punch bows are very op, especially when bow spamming, so add a cooldown or something.
- Fire. You can’t shield fire, so burn your enemies’ feet. Then they have to move, and they will probably release their shield, giving you an opportunity to attack.
I, personally, really enjoy shield pvp. I do know that a whole lot of people just stay crouched with their shields up and wait for an opening, which causes the battles to last forever. To prevent this, make the shields have lower durability when spawning.
Also here’s a pvp tip when it comes to shields, jump behind the opponent while they have their shield up.
