I think that Skywars being way more luck based compared to Bedwars would make it a worse game for duels. Like if one team gets worse loot compared to the other team at the start and at mid, then they will have a very annoying disadvantage against the other team and can lead to unfair matches. Also how skywars ores are disputed, it’ll feel way more luck based in getting good loot since the maps will probably be smaller.
This sounds like a good idea but at the same time not. I say not because In bed duels, you are spending 5 minutes just to kill 1 singular person and I would think sky duels would be the same. I could kill more then 1 person in 5 minutes!
Skywars duels could be like 4v4, that would be better than 1s or 2s because you can get more xp. But you can already kinda do this in cs’s (sky 1v1s).
I don’t think Skywars duels would automatically be unbalanced just because Skywars is usually more RNG based.
There are ways it could be balanced for a 1v1/2v2 format, for example removing chest loot entirely and standardising gear (like everyone getting the same kit). Even the map design could be adjusted so resources like ores are limited or consistent, such as using only specific ores like redstone for upgrades or utility instead of random loot spawns.
If it’s controlled like that, it would reduce the luck factor a lot and make it more about PvP skill, similar to how Bedwars Duels already works.

Anyway, I do understand the points you made and agree with most of them, especially the one about ores. I do feel like getting rid of chest (mainly the brown) could be like a double edged sword since it makes it more balanced for everyone, but it gets rid of the chance to get some uncommon items like snowballs and knock back boom boxes without relying on lucky ores.
