Roadmap for Hive Discord

Roadmap for Hive Discord Server :world_map::honeybee:

As most of us know, Hive’s update website (https://updates.playhive.com) includes a roadmap alongside a changelog. Hive currently covers the changelog part of the updates on their Discord server through the #hive-updates channel, which is commonly used whenever they have something new to post about the Hive. However, when it comes to what’s next down the line, that information is only accessible through the website, which people may not frequently check up on, if at all (independently at least).

That’s where the Roadmap channel would be a potentially beneficial addition to their Discord Community. It could be made through a forum. Have every planned update be its own, individual forum post, where the pinned post is the one that is coming to Hive next. Couple more suggestions:

  • Messages wouldn’t be able to be sent in the posts
  • Posts would only consist of “Coming next…” and “</> In progress” updates (with accompanying tags)
  • If an ETA is official, the name of the post receiving the ETA would be updated to include said info
  • Once an update is out, the post containing that info is removed
  • The channel would be in the announcements category of the Discord server

Thanks for giving this a read! This has been something I’ve wanted on the Discord for a while now, as it can potentially lessen the confusion on future updates, which has been a common occurrence there. Hopin’ y’all can make this a reality :folded_hands:

If I’m understanding correctly, you’re suggesting to have a new channel where they write posts like they do on the official roadmap? I think it would be much easier to have a link to the website posted in the Help-Me channel or the Common Questions thread channel (which i think it already is in that channel), as I don’t see much reason for having a seperate channel for that. Perhaps, a channel specifically called something like “road-map” with the only contents being a link to it could also work.

The only spot that I’ve been able to find that contains a link directly to the Roadmap is through the #common-questions channel, but despite that, there are still so many people who are confused about the new stuff there when it comes out. The latest example I could think of is the Koala Pet, even I was confused about it at first (which probably could’ve been prevented had there been a channel for it).

Why make the channel if it’d solely be a link - it’d be better off to just full send it at that point. From my perspective, all they’d have to do is make a post maybe once every few weeks to a month, and then, on occasion, they’d have to pin a post, change a tag, or press delete on one that came out. Also, Hive already has all the details on the Roadmap, so it wouldn’t be challenging to copy and paste that information to the posts on Discord. You get what I mean?
