Revamp/Update Hive Icons!

Hello everyone! I’m making this suggestion as I believe there is lots of potential for the hive icons to be improved. It would be a cool visual update that would benefit most if not all players. Plus if older players do not like this, there can be a toggle to change back to the older ones.

What Are Hive Icons
Hive icons also known as Hive UI are little pixel art images that can be found when playing various hive games or as unlockables. Personally i just call them hive icons. They are most commonly found in the UI of a game, say to represent how many kills you’ve gathered for example! As for the unlockables, they are currently found in special hub titles.

If you want this added, please share it with others. I put in a lot of effort for this suggestion! Lastly, thank you to the Hive staff for answering my queries like “Does this game have this icon and that” as well as the content creators on Youtube! It was great help getting references from videos. Now onto the stuff i’ve made

I have redone all of the hive icons including…

• ALL Game UIs. (Including Main Games, items with icons included, TW generators, Arcade, LTMS and the Sonic event)

• Game Lobbies (The arrow when you join a DR lobby for example)

• Hub Titles (All special titles with icons, EG. birthday titles)

• Hub Collectibles (During the sonic event, you could collect rings and for arcade golden mailbots)

• Prestiges

• And lastly Custom Servers

Down below you can take a look at every single icon for each category as one big image. SG, TW, CS etc.

I will also provide one with no duplicate icons and another one categorising the icons with a neater background for each game etc.

Most icons have been mostly reshaded, while a small number have been completely revamped to fit the theme more. Examples include the golden mailbot icon which used to be a coin, also used in Murder Mystery.

At first when i saw this posts title, I thought you were talking about hotbar items the hive uses. Maybe if the hive updates UIs, hotbar items could be given a new look too. Just like what they did for the hotbar items in the hub but for every game, every item

Really nice idea! I love the icons, although I think the game titles could be improved for readability: have you tried keeping the bottom half of the text the same as the top half?

nah not yet but maybe soon. For the game titles, i mainly focused on using one colour (with some hue shiftng) and making sure each title is unique.

(Note that from here I’ll be talking about the ‘all items, no duplicates tab’) If I had to give a bit of critique, I’d say that some of the browns tones (top left) need to be lightened/ hue shifted better (dark red + lighter orange?) e.g. sword, magnifying glass, hourglass and maybe the paintbrush.

Next, to balance out the criticism, I think that the top middle is perfect! Especially the star, the shading on that is

But, I think a few items in the bottom left either need a full overhaul or a change, mainly the skull and the murderer icon (ik that’s how it is in game, but it’s always been weird how it’s just a bald guy)

Anyway great suggestion, I love a good bit of pixel art. I would link my suggestion which is kind of similar to this (not for game icons, not a dupe in any way), but that post was bad and I would rather make a new version of it

I’ll do a few variations for the hue shifting to see if I could improve it or not. Personally I kinda like a darkish brown sorta colour.

Lmk any icons that need any sort of tweaking, even if its very minor. I’ll try my best to touch it up

Oh my these are very well done. I think that the background makes the icons appear darker then how they would look in game, because just for me personally I prefer
lighter/brighter shades.

On the topic of prestige (and I don’t know if other people think this too), I think that Prestige IV & V’s colors should be switched around.

Ususally you’ll find prestige V’s who are Hive+, and I think the green name + blue level 100 + purple/magenta prestige icon is a bit of an eyesore.

A much better idea would be to have the Emerald Prestige as Prestige V, like with these people here.

How do you think this looks? (I borrowed your icons haha )
