Enderscore67584, I hear you. Seeker mains usually make the game unfun for new players by killing them. This is a totally normal, valid way to feel. However, this update actually increased the seeker sweatification of the game instead of reducing it, and heres why:
- Reduction of runner mains
With the addition of seeker speed, runner mains can no longer win by running. Those that still played before the update no longer run - either we seek, or we’ve quit. Solo runners used to sometimes win against solo seekers, distracting them so blocks could live and the seeker main would lose. That will rarely happen now - running is dead. This has lead to an influx of seekers to the game.
- more seekers are partying than ever
Due to the increased difficulty in seeking, solo seeking is much harder too. I’ve been seeking exclusively in a duo since the update (and winning most of our games, even on maps with variants). With more seekers seeking in parties, you’re much less likely to survive against seekers. With solo seekers, you at least had a shot.
- variants are learnable - just annoying
This one speaks for itself - I’ve already learned the chinatown variants and am working on the boardwalk ones. By the end of the month I’d guess that most seekers will have variants down pat. All this did was make the bar to getting good at seeking so much higher - learning to seek isn’t as accessible for new players.
- Hider xp was nerfed and taunts are worse
They removed survival xp, so the best non-boosting method to level up is seeking. : /
- cheaters

Yea… with the map variants, many seeker mains have used this as an excuse to either party with ESPers or cheat themselves. This isn’t something that newer players will realize, but even I myself has seen lots of cheaters - Jimsuee found more than 20 on the first day of the update.
Instead of variants, here are some ideas of changes that would nerf seeker mains in a reasonable, fair manner:
- add more maps
- make easy-to-seek maps bigger (kingston, plasma, tala, pripyat
- add more block options to maps
- add dropsolid/jumpsolid
- make hiding fun/worth it
- reduce the number of options you have when voting for maps (so seeker parties can’t just learn like 5 maps and only vote those)
All in all, seeking is a valid way to play the game. If you don’t like it thats also very fair. With this update removing running as an option, I also am at a loss as to what to do against seekers. The game is incredibly unbalanced, even moreso now, towards good seekers. I wish I could tell you a strategy or gameplan that would raise your odds of success, but there isn’t really one anymore. You can’t beat a seeker party in terms of voting for maps, you aren’t gunna successfully dodge even a duo for 5 minutes (especially with seeker speed), you can’t just hope they miss you bc they won’t, etc. Running was the one option that gave u a shot where you weren’t just having to queue from anyone remotely good, but even that wasn’t enough vs duos or more. I’m sorry they removed that too.
