Hey there!
I’m from India and play on Hive Asia. Even with decent internet, most players from this region consistently get 90–110ms ping.
So, is it because the Hive Asia server is located in Japan?
This isn’t something we can fix by changing Wi-Fi or ISPs — it’s due to international backbone routing and undersea cable latency, which adds unavoidable delay when connecting to Hive’s servers.
The problem is that PvP becomes unfair. A player from Japan with 10–20ms ping often appears to hit from 4–5 blocks away (i.e. +0.49 reach, due to server-side lag compensation), while our own hits either miss or feel delayed. And then? We, with 95ms ping, get killed easily by 10ms players. This creates a major skill imbalance in games like BedWars, SkyWars, and CTF.
My suggestion is to add a small server-side reach compensation (around +0.2 to +0.3 blocks) for players with ping above 90ms. It wouldn’t give high-ping players an unfair advantage — just help close the gap caused by latency and make PvP feel more balanced across the region.
If we can’t increase reach, then reduce the reach for low-ping players by -0.3 or -0.4.
This could improve the experience for many players across South Asia and the Middle East who connect to the Asia region servers but still deal with high ping due to global network routing. This would also help many players across NA and EU too.
Because we’re not shifting to another region just to play on Hive. ^^
Hope this suggestion will be applied soon! : )
