create a branch of unofficial moderation dedicated specifically to the discord server.
there are a LOT of people currently dissatisfied with the way that the discord server is being moderated. I believe that having a communications team present would not only benefit the way that members react to rules being enforced, but it would also greatly improve relationships between the moderation team and regular members.
I’m well aware that there are helpers and moderators in the chat, but I’ve only ever seen them once or twice in the general chat (it’s very irregular, I should mention that there are also moments where helpers have been present for a longer period of time). this communications team would serve an entirely different purpose — it would combine the concept of suggestions and interpersonal relationships between the mod team and the server as a whole. I’ve noticed very few discord-related suggestions, so I believe having something specifically on the discord platform would provide a massive benefit, and relieve a lot of inner conflict on the disc.
I have a few different ideas for this, but here are my main two;
-
an active branch dedicated solely to being active in the discord channel. they would have their own channel where members could mention things that they’d like changed in the discord, or things that they like about the hive (pertaining to recent updates; it can help the mod and builder teams know what the members particularly seem to like based off of the majority).
-
this communications team is set up monthly with members belonging to a mix of particularly active members of the hive chat, helpers, and/or mods (mainly for supervision purposes). however, it would ONLY be set up if more than five suggestions/complaints have been filed regarding general moderation. I believe the complaint/suggestions form should be a google doc; it can be posted and pinned at the beginning of each month, and the team can review it around the middle of each month consecutively. this can allow members to remain anonymous and still give constructive criticism.
