I’ve seen some fast mobile players too. Competitive mode could be fun in theory, such as head-to-head battles, which are very etertaining to watch. Of course, really high capacity games could be fun too!
I’m going to make a podcast on that topic sometime next week. I tried to simplify my previous message but I think this is a topic that deserves its own podcast.
If you do that podcast about the topic would you mind mentioning this post to the people who losten to it? I knwo id gretaly appreciate it and i know a few others would too as ut would promote the idea and get it up in the forums
My listeners are mainly java players, however the podcast about speed builders theory could help the Hive Team to make the game more balanced. Main point is to keep people in the community, as well as inviting more people to this game. I’m looking at it like that.
as long as all posts are somewhat on topic i think its fine but if you need to say something to someone unrelated to the discussion then i think its best to send a pm
I do like the idea, i just remember seeing something else like this suggestion.
I like this idea. With the problem of off-topic and non-appropriate builds being said by many people, making a bad build won’t do anything, and speed builders become a thing. VOTED!
I already have this voted but I still think this would be a great gamemode to add to alternate with Just Build. I remember this gamemode was also on Mineplex and griefing and bias was minimal as the game is preset to make players to follow the narrative of the game.
With that said I’m not sure where people come from with griefing. Yes you could ‘grief’ your building plot but you are garaunteeing a loss for yourself unless someone else is outright afk. The solution to that is to just kick players with no blocks placed when judging begins.
I think the larger issue as mentioned is making it engaging enough to Hives community. Players seem to be in a high demand for powerup saturated gamemodes so some kind of powerup system is probably needed.
Some powerups that come to mind could be:
Silver Hourglass: Decreases one players movement speed. Obtained by completing a perfect build
Gold Hourglass: Decreases all players building speed except for the users. Obtained by getting 3 perfect builds in a row.
Building Blueprint: If a player gets less than 25% Build Accuracy but doesnt get eliminated, then they will recieve a template to help them build the next round.
And of course, to prevent the game drawing out. at the last 5 rounds of a game or at Final 3, the ability to break blocks placed is removed.
That should be an okay start to get this ball moving again.
