It’s recently been stated by Splodger that an overhaul is coming to the in-game reporting rewards system, and I think the in-game reporting system in general needs a few more options/reasons, specifically these 3;
X-ray; a player is using a modification either through a hacked client or texture pack that allows them to see other players through walls
Targeting; a player is targeting another player across multiple games (maybe allow players to make up to 3 reports on 1 player with this)
Team Griefing; This is extremely self explanatory, a player is intentionally sabotaging/obstructing their own team through the means of griefing them. This can be by intentionally covering shops, breaking treasure protections, or setting traps on their own teammates.
Literally none of the current options when using the /report or /recentreplays command cover these, and I think these options would help expand on the in-game reporting system even more and keep players from having to file reports through the discord server. (a lot of players don’t have discord)
Heya! The overhaul I mentioned is limited to just the rewards, not the reporting system as a whole.
That said, thank you for your feedback! When we originally made the list of report options, we tried our best to provide a range of the most common options for reporting players but to also keep it simple to use and prevent false reports.
In regards to your specific suggestions, here’s some info about why these options don’t currently exist:
X-raying alone is very hard to prove, and in the vast majority of cases, players using it are going to be using more obvious cheats.
Targeting is not currently an option as it’s very hard to prove over a single game, and a lot of the time, it comes down to strategy rather than targeting with ill intent. This option would also likely lead to a lot of false reports as many players would almost certainly use it to report players that have killed them in a game out of anger, despite them not being targeted at all.
An option to report players for team griefing actually already existed but was later removed because we found that it caused a lot of confusion and was primarily used to (incorrectly) report players for teaming.
We’re not against adding more options if it would help, but it’s important that we strike a balance between keeping the list easy to use and also preventing false reports (which ultimately lead to it taking longer to handle actual rulebreakers).
