Idea simple and idea to honor those who protect us, my own pepe (great grandfather in french) fought and lived through d-day, he was awarded silver star and purple heart. and if not accepted can we at least get some salute emoji’s for brave soldiers risking their lives to protect us.
Veterans day is US specific so probably not. VE or VJ day are maybe too solemn for the hive
yes not vj day but definitely ve day also where da salute
Well VJ day is the actual victory but 11 November (VE Day) is the one everyone knows. I dont know what they would do for the 2 minutes silence
I know but still
I think it might be too solemn for The Hive and it wouldve made more sense for D-Day’s 80th anniversary in 2024
how too solemn we are honoring ppl yes I understand but maybe just a bit maybe a banner
But on VE day everyone (well most people) (should) be doing the 2 minutes silence, so they wouldnt be playing anway
bro 2 minutes isn’t the whole day
imo maybe just smth for veterans day
I understand the reason for you wanting this. But I think any day/memoir to the military would be seen as too region specific (D-Day, VE, Veterans day) or too political (Veterans day, or any independence day) So I don’t think an international company that also attempts to be apolitical should do this, including Hive.
D-Day is not region specific
idrk abt this post I like it tho
I feel like it isn’t that bad of a idea
D-Day is about the allied attack on Germany in WW2, outside of the EU, and possibly USA its not a big/famous event.
I respect the intention behind this post, especially since it comes from a personal family connection. Your great grandfather’s service is admirable, and I do not think anyone is trying to disrespect that.
That said, I do not think a D-Day memorial event really fits into a Minecraft server. Multiplayer servers are usually filled with people not taking things seriously. Even if the event started respectfully, it would probably become awkward or disruptive very quickly, especially with teenagers with edgy humor trying to be funny.
There is also the issue that D-Day is a real historical tragedy involving enormous loss of life. Putting that into a game event can unintentionally make it feel more like entertainment than remembrance, even if that is not the goal. I don’t think a Minecraft server is the right format for something this heavy.
yeah fair enough thanks guys, also yeah @oLuunarr I guess
Take the other side too, I wouldn’t like celebrating my country losing a war, nor would the people who live in this countries. While international yes, it’s still quite the predicament to do because you have to account for everyone. Even if 90% of people liked this, there’s still the 10% with negative thoughts on a much worse topic than just deepslate getting added to manor.
Also accounting for anyone with PTSD from a war might feel uncomfortable from this. While I’m not saying this is a bad idea, you can’t really add this and expect a positive result, which is why I won’t vote.
Also @oLuunarr Canada also had a major role with D-Day
nearly all of German school/people regret their country’s role. I know Japan (to my knowledge) doesn’t take back what they did
I dont think modern germans support their govt from ww2.
Also MB i kinda forgot about canada in the war![]()
