Map Modifier

Concept:

Now we all know about voting for maps. It’s simple, but it allows for variety instead of being forced into something. But nowadays, some maps just aren’t fun since people don’t like how they are played. Maps like Lighthouse are too big, and most people don’t seem to enjoy those maps. Nowadays, I usually see Library and Castle getting voted because those are almost always the best option available. The only other time is when I vote for something else, but I usually don’t since I don’t like other maps! SO, here’s the idea: a way to vote for a modification of a map. :aggressive_laughter:

Example and why it’s smart

Let’s say your favourite map is Tropical in Squads, but you hate that they made it less rush heavy. :rage: Well, that’s no problem! :joy: Simply vote on the map looking item next to the paper and select whether you would prefer the rush variant, or chill variant! The reason this would be so good is due to the fact that many maps were changed to be less rush heavy and more chill, and if there was some way to vote the mini islands back in, it would be great.

What it would look like:

Aero [Rush] was voted with 8 votes!
Library [Chill] was voted with 4 votes!

While some maps can have new rush variants, some can have new chill variants if they are already rush heavy.

Now of course, some maps are already rush based (Like aero), so adding a chill variant could maybe… remove the mini islands, and Library might space out the map a bit.

Now all together, I think this would be a smart change that could make everyone happier and it would let everyone play the maps they want.

This is actually a pretty good idea! It’d give maps more variety and possibly allow old models to return. This could be very hard to code though.

Isn’t it just duplicating all the maps, removing or adding like 100 blocks or something, and adding a new item? I know it may take a bit, but it’s really just the making the item part, which is essentially the same code as the maps? I think it’s all just duplication with minor tweaks.

Now that you said it. That’s probably the idea here.
Although now I just realized another problem. Storing this much data about maps may cause a lot of lag. Or you’d have to download a lot of resource packs.

They could just make new maps.

Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about. Too much map data would cause a lot of lag.

How? It’s just more maps.
