So some of you may know that you can “make” people say things they didn’t say through quotes. My suggestion is to make this against the rules or remove it if possible. Mainly because it is unneeded, annoying, and people don’t like words being put into their mouths.
WOOOT
We need this
Earned my vote :))
This is a great idea, but I don’t think Hive can do anything about this.
I manage some other Discourse forums—and I haven’t seen a feature where you can turn off false quotes.
It’s a great idea, it just might be impractical to implement.
But it can still be made against the rules like invisible text was.
I would be all for that.
However, I came across this post by the Staff Manager that basically says that they can figure out what you quoted originally, so I don’t know if full on making a huge change to the forums base code is enough for something small like this
It’s still annoying tho

no more quote edit amogus sus borgor memes
yes
i see where ur coming from but also not every small thing that bothers u needs to be removed or disallowed.
Isn’t really a ‘small’ thing now.
When it was a small thing, no one really cared and laughed about it.
But rn it’s been abused and that definitely requires a solution.
(I see where you’re coming from btw)
Is this suggestion just for editing quotes or also quoting exactly what the message says?
he was talking about this ^
he wants quoting to not be editable. idk how that’s gonna work tho.
i agree its a slight issue, but- idk…
