Mail system

Hiya! I was thinking Mabey make a mail system.

1 of my friends were afk and I wanted to send them a message “they don’t have Xbox chat or any form of dm”

I thought it would be a good idea to make a mail system.

Sending mail:
You would do /mail send "player’ to send mail to a friend or an item in your inventory :mailbox_with_mail:

Opening mail:
A icon would appear on the item just like the cosmetics and to open mail you would ethier use the item or /mail open “player”

There would be a toggle in /toggles that you could make it so you wouldn’t receive mail…

Good idea and also with it appearing in the mail icon, it could be sent to mailbot aswell so when you click him, mail from other people will appear.

Microsoft does not allow 1-to-1 communication between players, which is the reason why there is no private messaging feature on The Hive or any other featured server. This is also why party chat requires at least three players to be in the party.

Therefore, The Hive will sadly be unable to add this suggestion.

Before a mod sees this and closes this. This could work with a mail group chat, the group sizes could be different sizes based upon having hive+ or not. A regular group starts at 3 and could go up to 8, while a hive+ group could have up to 16 players in a mail group. This allows you to message players while their offline and helps you look for players to play with you.

This would be impossible to moderate. Just imagine the amount of people (groups of two or more) that would actively group chat random players, leaderboad.players, rule breakers or other players just to annoy them or to spread toxicity.

If people received messages on the server itself that tell them to … do certain things … or are just toxic “noob get better” or hack accusation messages, they won’t feel comfortable playing on the server anymore, and therefore might leave/quit.

“Just toggle it then” wouldn’t be a great excuse here, as that is not how you solve problems. Hive wants their community to be friendly and respectful, adding such methods of communication just won’t be a good move to make in first place.

There are.plently of direct messaging websites and applications out there, reaching from Xbox messages, which is already one of those toxic places, Discord, Twitter, Instagram or whatever. If players don’t have a way of receiving private messages then they likely actively decided to do that. Hive should continue to be a great minigames server instead of your next toxic-environment place to chat with others privatly.

Most the things you mentioned can be applied to the current party system, and yet, from my experience, any of that rarely happens. Plus you can’t just message random people through this, they’d have to accept to join it first. The Hive’s player base is mainly younger, and don’t have permission/access to those other messaging apps.

Sure, adding new ways of communication would make it worse, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be added, The Hive would just need to improve their moderation. The first move would be to get more moderators, which it seems like they are trying to do that. Then of course, just be more strict on chat messages and other things. An auto detection to flag certain sayings or words, would also make it so much easier. They do have one, but it isn’t updated regularly(I believe) nor good.
I do agree with you though, The Hive isn’t at a place to even consider adding this atm. I would love to see a feature like this added eventually, since it would help with grinding and keeping in touch with friends.

I’m so tired rn, I fall asleep while writing this so it’s gonna be sloppy and all over the place and might not even make sense or just prove I didn’t understand what u said

It would be nice to have, if people actually used it as intended.

In a multiplayer world, using /msg, 2 players can talk to each other without anyone (except operators/owners) being able to see it. This is already a built in feature in minecraft and I don’t think it’s against Microsoft’s tos.

Due to Microsoft policy prohibiting 1-1 chat on Featured Servers, this sadly isn’t something that we can implement.
