I’ve noticed there have been more suggestions to make Ghosting, Cheating and Teaming of various statures more miserable. Now it’s my turn to drop some ideas.
Part 1 - Ghost Busting:
We all hate Ghosters yes? Well at least I hope we all do, The most annoying part of players ghosting is that often or not, it’s hard for the average player to tell that it’s happening. So here are some solutions
-
Make the Murderer Invisible - Now you maybe thinking, “…What?”, but make the Murderer invisible to spectators. This means that players ghosting the game would no longer be able to see where the Murderer is to get their friend to Eliminate them, but also it means that their friend won’t be able to find the murderer as easily, at least as long as the murderer isn’t running around with a sword out 24/7.
On the other side of the spectrum, if the murderer is invisible then their friends can’t just easily give direction on what to do or where to go, as they would be invisible to spectator view.
→ But they could just hold their sword or wear armour can’t they? Of course but they would be heavily sacrificing their cover, which in the grande scheme of things, makes the game more painfully difficult for them in the longrun. -
Make the Spectators Visible - Now you maybe thinking in the game itself, nonono. Make Spectators visible amongst other spectators. This doesn’t fully prevent them from ghosting, but it will make reporting easier. With this new change it should naturally also be applied to Replays, this way moderation can also see if there was any suspicious spectators.
Part 2: Firewalled Hackers:
Hacking, such a polarizing topic in a community, from the people defending themselves to the bitter end to those making accusations around every corner. There are many types of hacks. No-Clip, Speed Hacking, Super Jumping, Flying, X-Ray, the list goes on and on. We may never be able to 100% expunge the world of this evil, but we can make it easier.
- More specific Report Categories - Don’t you just hate it when someone no-clips and yet they keep appearing in your games? Are you confused by what to report someone under? Never fear, categories can and should be more specific.
As mentioned before already, No-Clip, the act of passing through solid objects, has always been a difficult report and people may even be confused on where they should go. A new category for No-Clip is an almost necessity to have as it’s own category, but it doesn’t exist. I’ve always reported under movement, though it doesn’t sound right for it be there. - X-Ray Jammer - More specifically for murder tool than X-Ray itself, adding a Role Overlay so then Murder Tool sees a different result than what is real would effectively kill the tool. Realistically there may not be a better solution, as the alternative would be pack scanning…
Part 3: Crashing the Teaming Reign:
Possibly the most annoying to keep clean and keep track of, Cross Teaming, we’ve witnessed it and fell victim to it time and time again, the argument is banning is too harsh, so let’s figure out something less harsh, but still punishing.
-
Leaderboard Bans - Boosters, possibly the most despicable of the MM Community are likely the most slippery to get away with things. Banning would be too harsh for how hard they cheated their victories, so instead, completely remove them from the All Time and Monthly Leaderboard for X Amount of Months or for multiple infractions, forever.
-
Party Bans - You maybe thinking, isn’t this harsh? Not necessarily, if someone is taking advantage of something that’s meant to be simply enjoyed, then that privilege should be withdrawn. This type of ban would only apply to the game they were breaking the rules in, in other words they could party up outside of the infraction game.
→ But what if they party up outside the game then join? Then they will forcefully be pulled from the party and q’d into a separate lobby. Durations would be completely up to Staff.
I believe that would be all, if you read all that, then it is appreciated. Every step a player makes, reports, informing on the Discord, is a step towards making someone else’s day better. We are stronger informed and united. Ciao.
