James Charles didn’t apply for the rank. Fairly sure the rank was handed out to him. That was the community managers decision. You realize majority of the the Hive Partners actually make Hive content or have made Hive content. Whoever gets the rank is at Splodger’s discretion.

We can potentially re-open the thread in time but I don’t see this being something we’re very interested in adding. As many have said, Hive Partner exists to encourage and support content creators, focusing on those that use our server.
Being an influencer in music doesn’t make you one for the Hive, sadly. Perhaps in the future if there are valid, Hive-related reasons that an Influencer Rank may be needed, we could reconsider it. However, I don’t feel the reasons provided are particularly compelling, as many have pointed out.
