Idle Animations for Costumes

I think it would be cool to add idle animations to certain non-paid cosmetics, such as max level costumes. Here are some examples.

  • Treasure Wars:
Pulls out sword and looks around.

  • Skywars
Both costumes could start levitating, because they have wings.

  • Murder Mystery
Could pull out magnifying glass and walks in a circle (like the pirate ship pet animation)

  • Just Build
Pulls out a hammer and some nails to hammer into the floor

  • Deathrun
    Pulls out scythe

  • Survival Games
Drops staff and picks it up

  • Block Drop
    Runs Around

  • Capture The Flag
Pulls out flag and plants it in the ground

  • Ground Wars
Clucky flapping their wings, or lays an egg and sits on it, and stands up a few seconds later. Similarly could be added to Time Owl

  • The Bridge
Honestely dont know about this one, post some ideas!

  • Ideas I have seen:
  • scratches head (AnAbsurdName)
  • fixes hat (AnAbsurdName)
  • scratches tummy (AnAbsurdName)
  • adjusts belt (AnAbsurdName)
  • adjusts shirt (AnAbsurdName)
  • kicks the ground (AnAbsurdName)
  • stretches (reaches up, arches back, maybe yawns) (AnAbsurdName)
  • rubs eyes (AnAbsurdName)
  • sneezes (AnAbsurdName)
  • coughs into elbow (AnAbsurdName)
  • reaches into pocket (AnAbsurdName)
  • half-draws sword (AnAbsurdName)
  • spins held weapon a tiny bit (AnAbsurdName)
  • yawns (AnAbsurdName)
  • Bridge Costume: Adjust helmet (cupcsr)
  • Hide And Seek Costume: Morph into a block or multiple tiny blocks and reform (KINGBOBV)

These are just some ideas for a few costumes, maybe they could be added to certain paid costumes.
I am going to make an animation in Blockbench to give an example of this.

This sounds very cool :sunglasses: I wonder if hive could add that is so that would be epic

Thanks! I literally thought of the idea at dinner. I got the inspiration from Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. The SG one is like emperor palpatines idle animation.
If you want, I can animate a few of them with a steve skin in block bench and send them as .gif files
also if you can tell me how to animate player models, that would be great! i cant seem to figure out how.

Like it would move your character? Would be interesting, I have mixed opinions but I’m willing to see how it would go

They can adjust their helmet

This is a great idea! But i hope hive can implument the code to do this, but will the animation stop when you walk?

Happy Hiving!

Do you mean the npcs? Costumes just make no sense.

Yes it will, it only happens when your afk. You can sit there in f5 to see it though!

No, only for costumes. You get the costumes for npcs when you get max level in that certain game. So if you have that certain costume, if hive adds this, it will have an animation when you are afk.

This idea sounds cool but I think it would be better for the npcs for show instead of idle costumes. It would make more sense because the npcs are always idle, and not many players would afk long enough to see it

It could be added to both, but the afk time for it to happen is like 15-30 seconds

i think for the bridge should be a small pit below the player and it falling in it

Maybe the Hide and Seek one could fall apart into its mini blocks and then reassemble

this is a very cool idea, I like it a lot. Voted!

The hide costume could occationally morph into a spruce or whatnot
Murder mysteries could draw out a zapper

The murderer mystery costume is detective raccoon, so it isnt a murderer.

I love the idea, but i’m not sure if actual movement would be smart, maybe just small things like adjusting a belt or fixing a hat. Something that doesn’t change the hitbox relative to the animation but still an action to do while idle. Here’s a list I’ve come up with:

  • scratches head
  • fixes hat
  • scratches tummy
  • adjusts belt
  • adjusts shirt
  • kicks the ground
  • stretches (reaches up, arches back, maybe yawns)
  • rubs eyes
  • sneezes
  • coughs into elbow
  • reaches into pocket
  • half-draws sword
  • spins held weapon a tiny bit
  • yawns

just some thoughts, you don’t want to make an idle animation that makes a person think the idler is doing something other than what theyre doing (looking around, moving around, crouching, jumping, etc)

Actual movement is fine, hive did it with the pirate boat pet idle animation, but those suggestions are great for paid costumes!

all pets have idle animations but thatl never happen in game because pets are only in the hub. I’m talking about stuff that could happen in actual games. Unless I’m mistaken, these idle animations are supposed to happen in game lobbies or the game itself if the person’s wearing the costume/cosmetic. For more movement I assume that emotes should work just fine.

How would the block drop one even be possible in a 3x3 square?

You guys are all getting this mixed up. You get the games costume when you get max level in that certain game. You can use it in hubs and games, so it will happen everywhere.
