Issue
In the past there has been a few issues regarding word abbreviations. Myself and others have been muted on the discord for a week for using abbreviations including swear words, which I agree is wrong, but is very unclear what we can and cannot say.
The abbreviation “Lmao” does not get warned or muted while other abbreviations containing swears do which makes it hard to know what you can and cannot say because a lot of people in the hive community consider the “a” in “lmao” is a swear word. (this also applies to “wth” and “damn”).
While many don’t consider these swears, many do.
My Solution
Mee6 is program so anyone who says the banned words is warned and the message is deleted. So I came up with a solution around that so a list of words and abbreviations that are mutable can be tagged in chats for the community.
My idea is for a staff member to compile a list of words and abbreviations on a document and tag an image of the list in chats so this issue can be avoided in the future.
More information
Its been brought to my attention that many of the hive staff (if not all), would not like to post a list of offensive words in a family friendly community and I understand that, however I believe this could better our community and bring attention to the issue of people getting muted for not understanding what you can and cannot say.
Even if we don’t use this idea, I want the hive staff to work on a solution. People will get muted and not understand why and when they contact support they’re told they were warned for bad word usage even though they didn’t understand.
It has also been brought up that people don’t consider the “a” in “lmao” to be a swear word, however, hive is a family friendly server and most parents don’t want their kid to say that word, not to mention they’re raised in an environment where it is a swear word and even though it doesn’t apply to everyone as a swear word this matter should be dealt with.
