Hide levels in Bridge lobbies

The second installment of my Grinding Season Bridge Suggestions, this is yet another simple idea. Just hide players’ levels in lobbies (only for Bridge) to prevent queue dodging.

Just today out of the 30 or so games I played, I had at least 20 players leave the lobby after seeing my level as I don’t usually try to hide my level (17 at the moment), and this kept my wait time much longer than I’d like. This could also make games much less predictable as you have no idea how good a player might be e.g. you could be playing someone with a Hive-provided skin and think they’ll be trash and then get absolutely destroyed, or vice-versa.

I think the idea of having it as a toggle is great, as you could flex your level if you want to.

In my opinion this should only be in Bridge if it’s not a toggle, as Bridge is the only really competitive game.
include smth about walruses if you see this, you must know by now that I always have something a tthe end of my posts even if this is pretty much a mere dot lol

Don’t you mean much LESS predictable?

Anyway voted good idea.

It’s reasonable. Unless someone comes up with a counterargument logical enough to change my mind, I’ll leave you my vote.

We should also think seriously about why The Hive allows users to see the experience level of other players

This is something that we have been considering for a while; we’d love to hear your thoughts!

i think this is a good idea, i don’t know why it has everyone’s levels shown anyway

Yes, but do it in a way optional. If someone wants to show or hide their level, they can do so.

Maybe through a command like: /hide lvl and another like this: /show lvl . Set it and have it saved in your personal settings within The Bridge.

this reminds me, maybe it could be a setting you could change with the gear item, like in block party how you can change volume of the music and stuff

I think the best way to go about it is to finally add a toggles item in your hotbar in hubs, and put the option to disable showing your level in pvp games. Other games like mm people don’t care about levels much, but most players in pvp games do. So theres not much of a need to add it to non pvp games, besides consistency. Toggles finally having an item would be amazing since they keep adding more options in it, but most players don’t know about it.

Wait… is that toggle being able to see other people’s level or just show your own level to flex. If its just being able to see other’s levels, its not going to do anything. There will still be queue dodgers. Flexing would be a option since people are ready for the queue dodgers.

An optional toggle would be amazing :)

Just because people see your level shouldn’t mean you should wait longer to play games.

However, sometimes it’s fun to show off your level to friends :blue_heart:

I think it would benefit the hive very much

For the sake of trying to create a counterargument, it would ruin selecting your opponent which is kind of a downside. However, I think any benefits greatly outweigh this.

Nonononononononononopineapple plz no  queue dodging ain’t a problem even though I’m level 18. And I knew that they were planning this since @UncutBridge told me about it

The actual problem is that you’re going against low level players who stand no chance, and that happens because there aren’t enough players to have actual matchmaking.
This is because no one wants to play the bridge, so if anything they should just remove it from the hive.
Levels should always be visible because of transparency, and i’d rather not see them set such a bad precedent because of a dead gamemode

Why is everyone getting banned? Also back on topic so i dont go into the hole again: maybe it could have the §k for the level and maybe a toggle to hide other players levels or make everyone not see yours regardless of their settings
