So as we all know, BedWars launched with only 3 modes: Solos, Duos, and Squads. I understand why Trios was removed since it was basically Squads with less players. However, Mega seems like a good mode to bring back in a more refined format, and many players have been requesting for its return. However, let’s be honest with ourselves for a moment. Eventually, Mega is gonna die off and lose its playerbase just like it did back when Treasure Wars was still a thing. So, to keep the game fresh and interesting with new modes without having the queue times being horrible, I think the best way to do this is to have a mode rotation system, with Mega being one of the modes.
The way this would work is that every week, a different mode would be in rotation to replace the previous one that was in rotation. All modes should be available at once for custom servers of course, but public games need to have rotating modes to keep players coming back and not have them take up too much server space or mess up the queue times. (SkyWars could also use something like this in my opinion, but that’s a whole other post).
Mode ideas:
Mega
Of course, Mega should absolutely be one of the modes included in the rotation system. Back when it was first released for Treasure Wars, it was pretty fun and intense as a battle between two teams of 12. Especially once BedWars is more refined as a gamemode, it would be super fun to play. Though I think if it were to come back, the currency distribution needs some refinement.
Gold Rush
This would be a mode with 3 teams of 4 where generators already generate gold by default, and gold islands will appear, which spawn with gold crates that include gold (As the name suggests), golden apples, fall boots, other pieces of enchanted golden armor (Possibly with thorns), and even the sword of embers. After a gold crate is opened, a new one will spawn 1 minute and 30 seconds after it is destroyed. The maps in general would have a layout akin to a fidget spinner of course.
Kits
Especially with some of the new items, BedWars would be a good game to have a kits mode for. Ideas for kits include:
- Builder Kit (Starts with 8 blocks of wool, and a bridge placer that genrates 8 blocks of wool. The bridge placer regenerates every 10 seconds after use)
- Warrior Kit (Starts with a wooden sword by default (The start with sword upgrade makes it start with a stone sword upon respawn); gains 1.5 hearts (3 HP) for every normal kill, and 3 hearts (6 HP) for every final kill)
- Archer Kit (Starts with a bow and 2 arrows. 3 arrows are gained upon each kill, and 6 are gained upon each final kill)
- Miner Kit (Starts with an iron helmet, a golden pickaxe, and a stone axe by default; has the haste effect applied)
- Pyro Kit (Starts with a fireball by default; gains a fireball upon each kill; takes 30% less damage and 20% less knockback from fireballs thrown by other players; self-thrown fireballs launch the user slightly further with a 50% damage decrease instead of the default 30% damage decrease)
These of course are just ideas, and some might be overpowered. However, they would be fun nonetheless. Hive could start out by having it as a Solos mode first, and if that does well, they could even expand it to Duos or Squads.
