I’m sure the less popular of us, the foremost of which is myself, have experienced opening the party menu, clicking on the invite button, then clicking the invite a friend button, and have none of they’re friends be m online. When this happens it’ll say, “None of your friends are currently online!”
For the sake of those of you who don’t know, I will explain. This is an error in subject-verb agreement. The word “none” is a contraction of “not” and “one” so it literally means “not one.” This means that the subject of the sentence, “None of your friends are online,” is “one of your friends,” which is singular because it refers to one of the friends in question. The problem is that the verb in the sentence, “are,” is a plural to be verb. In summary, the subject is singular but the verb is plural which is illegal in the English language. I suggest that they change the sentence to “None of your friends is currently online.”
Please don’t hate ln me for pointing out such a small error. I’m not trying to be overly nitpicking or something. I just think that the official server text should be grammatically correct. I do understand that only three people will notice and only two will appreciate this change, but I believe it would be the easiest fix ever, and I see no reason why not to change this. I do understand it’s a video game not English class, but it seems wrong that the official Hive message id incorrect.
Sorry if this was wordy or hard to understand. I had trouble wording this.
Also should I move this to bug report because this is a suggestion to solve a server error?
Yes, I play on maximum FOV; don’t judge. lol
