About a year or so ago, Hive implemented that big TW update (I can assure you this isn’t a single-gamemode-specific suggestion, please let me finish) that not only made iron armour affordable, but also balanced it. How? Well, using their exact words, they:
“Added protection 1 to the iron chestplate, making the set an exact middle ground between chainmail and diamond”
This was very a necessary change and I applaud the hive staff for catching it, yet they ignore the very reason this change was needed in the first place: the chain helmet and iron helmet do the exact same amount of protection. Each and every piece of armour in the game does 4% (where did I get this number? The Minecraft Wiki is real easy to find on Google, as is the page for Armor as well as the subsection for Bedrock values) more protection than it’s weaker equivalent, except the iron helmet (and the diamond helmet technically, but we can blame the iron helmet for being too weak). Each level of Protection adds 4% of extra protection, as Hive staff are already aware of.
So what am I asking? First off, which games have iron helmets? Answer: The big three PVP games; Treasure Wars, Skywars, and Survival Games. My request? Add Prot 1 to every single iron helmet, that way the iron helmet can be useful on its own, having a protection value 4% above chain and 4% below diamond equivalents, and full iron in Treasure Wars doesn’t need to depend on the double strengthened Prot 1 iron chestplate (oh yeah, you’ll need remove Prot 1 from the iron chestplate in TW for this to work but no biggie) to be the exact middle between chain (48% protection) and diamond (80% protection).
tl;dr: Iron helmet does same amount of protection as chain, making it useless. Iron helmet with Prot 1 in every PVP gamemode would make it a proper upgrade from chain and the exact middle between chain helmet and diamond helmet.
Note: I am aware this has been suggested in much smaller scales, but never as a dedicated forum post, with a rhyme and reason why this change needs to be implemented server-wide.
