Game Idea: Glide

Before you say this is a dupe, I want to let you know that this suggestion works differently than the ones that I have seen.

As some of us know, Legacy Edition (pre-BTU console edition) didn’t have support for servers. To make up for this, 4J Studios created their own official minigames that anyone could join or leave at anytime, without having to wait 5 minutes (looking at you, Bridge). They went by Battle, Tumble, and Glide. Battle and Tumble are in hive, in the form of Hub Games (Duels and Spleef), but a Glide-like game isn’t on hive, or any other featured server for that matter. After BTU (the Better Together Update), Legacy Edition (known officially as Editions Edition, which is kinda weird in my opinion) was discarded and replaced with Pocket Edition (now called Bedrock Edition), meaning new players can’t play these games anymore.

that’s a lot of parentheses…

My suggestion is to add a Glide-like game to The Hive, so new players can enjoy it, and old players can play their favorite minigame in a new style.

Function

This would act like a mix of Time Attack and Score Attack. For those of you who are new, or play on mobile, I’ll explain it.

At the start, everyone has 00.00.000 time. As you glide, you get more time. You can fly into rings to lose time (Green rings are 7 blocks wide and make you lose 3 seconds, yellow rings are 5 blocks wide and make you lose 5 seconds, blue rings are 3 blocks wide and make you lose 7 seconds), but crashing will gain you time (8 seconds). The person with the least amount of time wins.

Unlocks

You could obtain hub titles based off of titles from the original minigame, like “Do you even glide?”, “Took The Scenic Route”, and “Better luck next time!”. You could also get cosmetics, like different types of wings, and trails.

Why?

I loved the Legacy minigames, and i want them to come to bedrock at some point. Hive is also my favorite server, so i would like to see a new game like this on hive. Mobile players and new console players can experience it for the first time, and this would be the first racing minigame on a featured bedrock server that doesn’t have anything to do with karts or boats!

Thank you for reading!

JJ's Note

If you can, you should seriously go back to playing Legacy Edition for a while! there’s no hackers, after all.

Although I never played Glide too much compared to battle, I still played the minigame and other elytra games like this and it woukd be very cool for this to be added to hive!

This system just doesnt make any sense.
It would just make sense if you gained pounts for gliding and going through the hoops, and the person with the most points at the end if the course wins.
You could also give a bonus depending on how quickly they finish (1st, 2nd 3rd) to encourage speed.

This would still allow players to decide if they want to fly accurately through the hoops, or finish quickly.

 I had the same idea. I’m going vote this anyways because it reminds me when I made my idea of glide, which I am still stoked to see if it does come true! Voted!

Not really.
There are a lot of time related games out there that have the other system. This game time related, it wouldn’t make sense if time went up as you were playing. Time passes as you play, and the rings would give you more time.

Think of it like a race. The person who wins is the person who got there within the least amount of time. The rings are just a bonus.

I don’t know if you’ve played a lot of time games, but that’s generally how it works. I also don’t see how this would be very confusing for people, it’s pretty much just fly and go through rings if you can.

I tried to make it different… :pensive:

I mean, generally time games would have you try to reach the end as fast as you can, and instead of losing time from powerups you just get a speed boost that increases with higher tier powerups.

Having a system of losing time would be confusing because you would basically need a scoreboard to see what time everyone else is on. Because it would be confusing if you and someone else finished at the same time but they were 7 seconds ahead of you, which you’d have no way of knowing beforehand.
