hello, welcome to the forums!!
If your skin has custom geometry, the server or minecraft as a whole censors it to Steve. Or if it has some transparent(invisible) part, even if it is covered by the second layer of the skin(3D skins), the server still counts it as invisible and hence censors it… Please let us know if this is the issue you face or if there is some other issue
No that’s not what he is talking about, all custom skins show up like that on nintendo switch, they made it that way because it was causing issues. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like it will change for a while.
Oh okay, i dont know much about consoles and switch but thought he was talking abt the custom skin issue…
Well yeah I was trying put on a Alex skin but yeah yellow Steve instead
Was the “Only Allow Trusted Skins” toggle enabled? If you want to see custom skins, disable that toggle on your in-game profile settings.
However, if the server really does block custom skins on Nintendo Switch even with the toggle disabled, then forget about it.
I can confirm. I play on my Switch and my Xbox. When I put on my custom skin on Switch, Hive Steve, but when I put it on on Xbox, it worked perfectly! I don’t know what the problem is (maybe it’s a Hive problem, maybe it’s Nintendo) but yeah.
Also, welcome to the forums
EDIT: The Only Allow Trusted Skins settings is toggled for me on Switch. Still doesn’t work.
The custom skins are filtered out on Nintendo Switch due to Minecraft having performance issues on that console. Unfortunately you would have to hope that Mojang/Microsoft does something about the performance on the Switch version of the game.
