Don’t rearrange your inventory when you pick up sheriffs bow

In murder mystery, you usually play with your inventory like this: some sort of special item, like an apple, a bow and an arrow. However; when you pick up the sheriffs bow it just inserts itself into the two slots and moves the apples or item into the 4th slot. This is annoying because if you are running from the murderer and need a bow, you now have to switch over more hot bar slots to apply another apple. I usually rearrange mine; but that can be annoying on literally every platform and is not possible in some cases without death. Therefore it should just be removed, and sheriffs should be expected to play the same as innocents. This also applies to potions in spaceship. For some reason they go in the 4th slot if you have a bow. Just make the universal standard apples :red_apple:

I’m just going to guess this is new, since this was not an issue for me the last time I played, but that was like 2 months ago so idk if I’m allowed to yap about this. It does sound incredibly annoying tho.

It’s been an issue for years.

Huh… never seen it myself so I honestly don’t know, but I definitely have issues with some of the inventory management on bridge so I think I know what it would be like. I’ll vote just out of empathy.

Yeah so basically when you are sheriff or innocent at the beginning of the game all items should go to the first slot, followed by the bow and arrow. But for some reason this doesn’t happen with potions, and when you pick up the sheriffs bow your current hand item moves to the 4th slot, meaning that it can get just confusing and annoying. I usually rearrange my inventory but it’s just troublesome so why not just remove it? If most people agree I don’t see why not.

Do you ever put anything in your first slot? When you pick up the sheriff bow, it automatically wants your first slot clear, and since arrow is usually in 2nd slot, your 1st slot item is moved to your 3rd slot. It can be annoying if you rely on the item in your first and its not there

Lol no it sets the sherrif bow in my ninth slot for me and the arrow goes in eighth

Really don’t know what happened to do that, but I still haven’t played for a while so idk if it changed

Lol ikr but my pc can’t even run win 11 its that old so idk if it’s also just really buggy

It did try to auto-delete a texture pack for java that I later figured out had been a ghost client all along. It said “Error: can not open file due to malicious content” which basically meant the pc thought it was a virus, and then the next time I tried to load it this happened “Error: file could not be located” meaning it just deleted the file. It’s literally not able to delete files on it’s own.

My pc is kinda buggy.

More on this topic; I forgot when playing backrooms sometimes the flashlight goes to the first slot sometimes the cupcakes? I think the cupcakes first slot flashlight 4th, should this be a separate topic or should I add this too this one?

It’s based on whatever you object you find first, they basically go down the hotbar, so if you found the flashlight then the cupcake, the flashlight would be first slot, and cupcake second. With a bow obviously the arrow and bow takes up a slot, but thats generally how it is. However, with a bow in hand, things you pick up will mostly default to the 4th slot, as the game wants your first slot to be clear, and won’t stack unless an object is manually put there, or if you had the object there before you got your 10-coin bow. Thats why the inventory rearranges upon sheriff pickup, is because it wants 1st slot clear

Yeah I understand how it works, I am suggesting that they change this so the useful item always goes in the first slot. Because if you get innocent or sheriff immediately, they go to the first slot, otherwise they go to the 4th if you pick up the sheriff bow, which doesn’t happen often, so you are more used to having the useful item in the first slot and therefore have to rearrange your inv when you pick up the sheriffs bow.

Heya, got back to this post after playing yet again recently (also I got a new pc so hooray), and I noticed that this was strangely only partially an issue for me…

Somehow I have still been getting my crossbow in my 9th slot and arrow in 8th, however I have noticed that my sword still gets placed in my first slot and moves to my 3rd once I get the crossbow.

This is no longer an issue with my desktop, as I am running on a much more stable machine and fresh installation of minecraft, but the strange restructuring has cost me to lose a game already. This may become a serious issue soon, please bump if you haven’t already.

You can sort your inventory how you like it, I do that every sw game for example

So yes you can rearrange your inventory the problem is more that when you pick up the sheriff’s bow it rearranges it again, which for me, a controller player forces me to immediately stop and change my inventory or change my playstyle. Which isnt fun. there is no feature like that in sw so tbh its unrelated.
(Sorry for lack of grammar; mobile typing sucks)
