Idea:
International Chat Channel.
More information:
This channel will be specifically for those who are not English. With Helpers/Staffs knowing more than 1 language in order to help those who are in need of it. As it is not fair for none English speakers to ask for help in the chat just to get a warning for speaking their language. Thus, I feel like this channel will be a great help for them! As well as hiring Helpers who are other than English to assist them. As for myself, I speak more than 10 languages and always see Br and etc speak. As people reply to them to help, Helpers warn them to speak in English which is unjust but I get it is part of the Discord server rules.
We appreciate your feedback! I’d like to clarify that the English language rule is in place to keep things safe and enjoyable and to allow our team to moderate effectively. Our Discord has grown significantly over the years, and we unfortunately don’t have the capacity to moderate chat in languages other than English.
Similar rules exist on many large Discord servers, including Minecraft’s.
That said, enforcement of this rule is very lenient, and common sense is applied; we aren’t issuing warnings and punishments unless it’s absolutely necessary (in cases where users intentionally ignore reminders from our staff). Our staff will take every possible measure to help users who might not speak English and take time to make sure that they understand the rules.
While we have dedicated (paid) team members monitoring and moderating The Hive and our Discord server 24 hours a day, our helpers are volunteers. We cannot (and do not) expect them to be around at all hours of the day to moderate our Discord server. While our helpers certainly assist with Discord moderation, it is not their primary role.
tl;dr - this is a nice idea, but unfortunately not a feasible one
