*Some of these ideas will be taken from other forums posts, however, I will modify and introduce new suggestions.
**Problem and insight:**Recently, I’ve been constantly queueing with parties of a higher device when playing with my mobile friends, and when I play solo, I’m queueing a lot with the same problem (though it isn’t as annoying and is easier to deal with without the being teamed on). This isn’t a result of input, as there aren’t too many kbm and controller players who use a mobile device as their screen/output. This is most likely a problem with device-based matchmaking itself. I’ve also asked many of my friends, who agree that this has been happening a bit more recently and is a problem. I would also like to make it clear that I am experienced in telling what device a player is using, I am not getting this info from getting comboed numeroulsy.
Suggestions:
Having a more strict interpretation of matchmaking: Reduce the player minimum for device-based matchmaking so that it can be met most of the time.
Add a way for lower devices to toggle a way to queue in a higher device’s lobby (mobile can queue into controller and kbm lobbies, controller can queue into kbm lobbies). This would reduce the number of people saying that the game is too easy, which has been a complaint by many people. Set the default queue to the device that the player is using.
Have a mixed queue option (allow for all players to be able to queue into specific lobbies which are a mix of mobile, controller, and kbm players).
Hey Taydu! Welcome to the forums! So it seems like most people on mobile use a controller or Xbox or Playstation and plug in a kbm. So it’s not exactly the matchmaking more of the players. Though an option to put random queuing where you have mobile, console, and mobile I don’t see much wrong with it but most people won’t do that besides maybe some pc sweats who want a challenge but most won’t do that. Also the part where people complain the game is “to easy” give me some examples because idk anyone who says that more people say it’s to hard if anything with all the sweats. You will always get easy games and sweaty games.
I also get queued with players which I know for a fact are pc (from yt or something). Knowing that I queue with these like every 5 games, there are going to be more which I don’t know who will queue into my games, and its illogical to think that that many people would be using or abusing input to get better matchmaking. Believe me, I get horrendous queues when I queue with friends and solo. I wouldn’t have made this post without asking the community about it on the hive discord because I wouldn’t want to spread misinformation.
okay, so, by “higher devices” you mean kbm and controller. and by “lower devices” you mean touch.
now, the problem you have is that you q against people with higher devices, though you play on touch, yes?
and you know why, obviously; those mobiles haave a controller or are playing otg.
that’s exactly what Hive is trying to improve, so this suggestion is unnecessary.
If they are, then they surely would have posted it on this: Trello (Their public roadmap). Again, I’m not dumb and I know what device-based matchmaking would look like if it didn’t have problems, still accounting for different input types. And yes, I know that they are working on input-based matchmaking, which would not work without the original concept being fixed. And this is on skywars because I don’t know where else to put it.
I am currently having the exact same issue. This is happening to me late at night and not during the day for some reason (I play NA). I am on mobile and have had this issue for the past couple days when I am grinding for max level at night time specifically. I have run into people like HivesDemon(not sure if I got that name right, but I remember them from somewhere), ItzChillz, and other people who said they were PC in chat. I don’t have screenshots with me, but Console players are also getting affected by this by also being in the same games. I asked around the players, and it was filled with mobile, PS4, Xbox, and PC players all in one SkyWars game. This occurence has happened more than once. I am not sure if it is the amount of players currently playing, as less players are queuing into games it might be harder for the device matchmaking to put people into games. If it is, it would be better modified to wait for their device to queue. It is not what I am used to, and I would rather wait for mobile players to join if that is the case.
