As someone who loves time trialing games like mario kart, I’ve come to notice that you can’t really do that in deathrun without making a custom server, and even then, the game doesn’t keep your best times that you’ve gotten in custom severs, so why not add a time trials mode?
When going to the NPC in the hub, you can either select to play a normal game, or select the time trials mode. When selecting the time trials gamemode, a menu will appear, allowing you to pick what map you want to play. When playing in time trials mode, the leap cooldown will still be 15 seconds and all shortcuts would be allowed. The game will notify you how far ahead or behind you are compared to your previous best time and your best time will be saved as a ghost that you can race There would also be a leaderboard, showing the top 100 fastest times for each map. You would also be able to race their ghosts (and your own) to learn the maps. Every ghost you’ve created would also have it’s very own ghost ID, which you could search and race. There would also be regular leaderboard checks to make sure no-one cheated in their runs.
Edit: There wouldn’t be any deaths in this gamemode.
