Color Bomb Frequency

Idea:

In BlockParty, the chances of a Color Bomb spawning are very high, and it needs to be reduced.

More information:

The Color Bomb’s chances of spawning are WAY too high, and it should probably be reduced to a 20% chance of spawning.

It should also be spawning a lot more towards the end of the game, like around round 15, when the rounds start to get shorter.

This would improve BlockParty’s skill-based gameplay, which is how it was in the Java server. :+1:

Hey! I completely agree with this post! The color bomb definitely needs a nerf, and good job for pointing it out! :clap:

The color bomb is basically a free ticket of not getting eliminated at the start of the round since the start is already has a lot of time for you to make it to the color and having another option makes it easier.Spawning it in the end of the game is great since you need 2 items to win the game and having a option where you don’t have said items will be great.

I know, but what if the bomb only spawned at the last second? That would make it so much better, but harder for bomb spamers.

This is quite an old post.

The bomb is fine as is. I don’t see a reason to change it. It’s not too frequent anyway.

For early rounds, you have enough time to react and reach the intended platform.
For late rounds, decreasing the bomb spawn rate wouldn’t make sense since the rounds are too fast for them.

It is just perfectly balanced and makes it for unique gameplay. It allows for more variety of gameplay as Block Party can be quite repetitive at times. I also think the bomb is just a cool concept and adds flair for BP.

I am confused on what “bomb spammers” are as surely they’re just regular people playing the game as it intended. It’s not even a choice for players to choose if a bomb spawns, unlike a bow in CTF where you can almost always use the bow in whatever scenario.

As well, the poll has a majority of players voting “no” to not change the the spawn rate.


I just realised I didn’t explain why it’s perfectly balanced for late game.
The late game is a lot more skill-based than the early rounds, meaning you have to rely on your powerups more. This is a good thing according to the original post. Changing the bomb’s frequency would lower the skill ceiling and cause more than 1 victor more commonly.
