Change Sharp 2 Iron to Sharp 1 Diamond

Well, actually sharp 2 iron does more damage if you do the calculations but I still like the idea.

Iron sharp 2: 8.5 damage

Diamond sharp 1: 8.25 damage

Its marginal but it will make a difference in a big battle.

i like the iron sword with it because when your charging at the opponent they will never know of its shard 1 or 2

That’s not the case on bedrock edition

That strategy is a double edged sword; People can pull it off just as easily as you, so it doesn’t provide any net advantage. It’s just annoying to anyone it’s being used against

I sometimes do that, instead of using my diamond sword, I use a shap 1 iron just because it will be harder for them to know if it’s sharp 1 or 2, I really have no idea if it works, tbh I am very indifferent to this change. I don’t want it sooo badly and it won’t change much if it was added so I’ll just vote anyway since y’all really want it.

Nope, actually on the wiki for Minecraft it states 1.25 damage for each level of sharpness, and that’s for bedrock.

Let’s math:

Iron sword base damage - 6 dmg
6 + 1.25 +1.25 = 8.5

Diamond sword base damage - 7 dmg
7 + 1.25 = 8.25

Next time, check your facts before you respond

I just conducted some tests with @WintersCloStar , and we found sharpness to give 1 damage per level, except 2 when going from sharp 3 to sharp 4. The only finding we found that strayed from the ingame numbers, was that the ingame numbers + 1 = the actual damage dealt. (So a stone sword does 6 damage, not 5) It says that an iron sword does 6 damage, but it 3 shots a 20 health Chloe. After hitting her once, she said it did 3.5 hearts, or in other words, 7 damage. With that out of the way, with your numbers, and the fact that weapons do one more damage than listed, a wooden axe with sharpness 2 does 6.5 damage per hit, and a stone sword does 6 damage per hit. After hitting Chloe 3 times with each weapon, she survived with 2 health each time, even though 6.5 times 3 equals 19.5 (shows as 1 health). The Minecraft wiki, is an unofficial source, so take everything you see there with a grain of salt

Well, I’m glad you tried to test it but as mentioned the number of damage sometimes goes into digits beyond the visual scale (as in what the player hearts show) such as 0.25 which is a quarter of a heart. Minecraft visually does not show you this but in the code the health is measured by a digit not a visual heart, meaning that it can go into numbers invisible by the visual heart system, I hope you now understand, also saying the Minecraft wiki is an unofficial source is downright wrong, it is developed and curated by real Mojang employees along with trustable third party sources. Lastly, when you were talking about the damage doing more damage than shown is true, because if you looked at the weapon stats it will say ‘digit+’ which means that it can do much more since that is the minimum, I.e standstill, weak hit is the minimum. I calculated by the minimum which technically means that, yes it could be the same damage but it would not be the same hit.

I mean, you can both be right. Sharpness can add 1.25 per level, which is why it jumps 1 extra damage to 2 extra damage with sharp 4, but anything other than an integer might not matter, as damage and health are likely stored as integers.

Ok, I think you’re right, but since ingame, the damage output is always floor(damage)+1, it’s not really applicable to this suggestion. Also, my apologies regarding the Minecraft wiki

You right on a few things and honestly, it’s a 0.25 damage difference, plus it’s not gonna ruin anything it’ll only maybe make fights longer, but thank you for discussing with me in a mannerly way.

here is egg for service :egg:

exactly thats like so ez

But then u can trick opponenst

if you want to trick opponents, hold a stone sword then switch to sharp 2 iron. +1 dmg isnt very good for tricking

They can make this instead of that:
stone sword sharpness 2
iron sword sharpness 2
diamond sword sharpness 2

it would be better i guess

But the point of this suggestion is to keep damage the same(or at least about the same) while changing the appearance of it to be less confusing.
