Bring Back Pride Month Celebrations for 2026

Hive needs to bring back their pride month celebration for June 2026.

I can’t remember if Hive changed their discord icon for pride month in previous years, but I do know that in 2024 they had an edited icon and an in game cosemetic. However in 2025 they removed any celebrations for pride month. But it should be brought back in 2026.

If I remember correctly some Hive staff stated last year that they had a reason for not celebrsting Pride Month. That reason can be summed up as their celebration causing more people to lash out and have arguments while being hateful. But although that might be true, I still feel as if having a Pride Celebration is more beneficial than not.

Many LGBTQ+ individuals find safe spaces online. As coming out in public could lead to social ostracization, or worse. Hive returning their Pride Celebration, although not providing matieral change, could be a moral booster for those people. The Hive continuing to keep their support for Queer/the LGBTQIA community reserved, shows that the rise in homophobia affects all aspects, even theyre safe spaces.

Agruments may still start in the Hive Discord, which I could see as a concern. But as the Hive is currently searching for more Discord Mods as of today, they should have enough people to take care of it by June. There is also an issue with hiding Pride Celebrations due to arguments about it, which is that this allows people who are homophobic to simmer within the community. If you allow both Wolves and Cows in a pen, you won’t have any cows.

I’m sorry if anyone sees this as political, however I would go out to say that my existance is not, and should not be political.

I do understand if this is too hot of a subject to allow on the Hive forums, but I do ask you consider this. I’m not asking for anything fabcy, just recognition. Because while reality for us gets worse consistantly, we need some sort of outlet.

Strongly disagree with this post. No hate towards anyone of the Lgbtq community tho.

The issue with your opinion on it though, is even with a pride celebration, it doesnt effect your experience on Hive. A discord Icon with a flag on it? Pretty easy to ignore if you dislike it. A cosemetic? Just dont wear it. If it makes others feel safer, and doesn’t affect the people who don’t care for it, why bother catering to the people uneffected?

I do agree finding saftey purely online is dangerous. However for many peopld its their only option.

I could see where people see LGBTQ rights as political, but A. I disagree that it is, because although its a hot topic in politics for some countries, it doesn’t effect the people against it. Among other reasons but thats for a different area to talk about. But B. The Hive is a European based company, many European nations Mostly accept LGBTQ people broadly, unlike the U.S., India, and other countries.

It just makes me feel frustrated every time I see it, celebrating what I believe to be wrong. I don’t necessarily understand how it makes people feel safer when seeing a rainbow flag. If that is the case it’s sad there’s so much hate going around.

I probably shouldn’t continue this debate. But again if this does end up happening, or it doesn’t, I hope everyone remains respectful. Spreading hate does nothing.

I see no problem with this, but I do think it’s fair people dislike this too. Some equal balance would be fair so that both sides feel listened to and included. While realistically they probably won’t do this if that’s what they said last year, I have a compromise.

Maybe they could make a few lobbies, or a certain place in lobbies friendly to this so players can hang out there, while not covering the whole server in it for people who dislike that opinion.

For the discord server, they could just add one new chat or something to show respect while not making it feel forced to others.

My final thought is if they made something like a hat or something, add an alternative variant of the hat that isn’t using the LGBTQ style, so players who don’t support won’t feel disincluded or angry not getting a hat they want or making it look like they show support to one side. Something like a rainbow party hat with an alternative red one or something (could be any colour, that’s just an idea)

I feel like they just either need to do it or not. I don’t think “segregating” different beliefs would go well, it would lead to more targeted hate.

If hive brings back pride month there would be way to much hate on hive.

To give you some context: we chose not to change the icon last year because doing so previously drew significant targeted abuse toward our LGBTQ+ members and volunteer mods. Protecting our community, especially those most vulnerable to that harassment, had to take priority.

To be clear, we fully and unconditionally support the LGBTQ+ community. This server is built on the principle that everyone is welcome here, and we have a zero-tolerance policy against hate speech and discrimination.

Whether or how we mark Pride Month this year is a conversation we’ll have as a team closer to the time, with our community’s well-being front and centre. We really appreciate your thoughts and will definitely take them into consideration when discussing this later down the line.

To keep this space as respectful as it’s been so far, and to get ahead of the kind of responses these threads unfortunately tend to attract, we’ll be closing this thread for now.
