Block Glitching. I’ve lost many, many, winstreaks to this issue. In one moment, you can be in a mega game, wiping out the other team, the other moment trying to find a way to kill the last opponent through other means.
I will elaborate on this further on what to add and how it works.
What ill be discussing:
- The Issue
- Causes and Effects
- What can be added to counter
- Conclusion
Block Glitching is the act of glitching yourself through blocks in a spot where you cannot reach to intentionally stall and draw the game. And yes, you can report said block glitchers by typing /report then going to Behavior then going to Prolonging Game, but by then you would’ve already lost or the game drawn. What I’m trying to say here is to counter the issue so staff don’t always get clogged up with petty block glitching reports.
This can be caused by people wanting to snipe a highly ranked leaderboard player/team or somebody with a high winstreak, or by players block glitching as a last ditch effort to win a losing game. The effects of this are that players get tilted (rage) causing them to say things that they never meant out of a fit of rage or usually, inject a hacked client to eliminate them or worse, them block glitching too. This also can drive away new players away from the server as they’ll think that “Block Glitching is a meta on this server”, and this can drive away pre-existing players too due to the amount of times this happening. Staff get effected too, silly block glitching reports clog up and distract them from more important issues, like hacking.
What can be added to counter this:
-
Suffocation:
This may be not possible and may be an issue on Mojang’s end but something like this and along those lines can make block glitchers useless and cease to exist. Or checks can be placed every 1 minute to check if “player” is inside a block or not, once again this may not be possible to place checks due to bedrock’s limitations. -
Damage BoomBox:
Just like Capture The Flag; Damage BoomBoxes can be in the “Special” tab and can cost Diamonds/Emeralds. These BoomBoxes can either be really expensive and have infinite uses, or it can be cheap and have a limited supply just like Golden Apples/Chorus fruits. Or it could be a mix of both. I recommend the price to be 12 emeralds, the reason for this price is so that its not that cheap to the point that its the new PvP meta, and not that expensive to the point that its not viable to buy it. And for the damage levels:
No Armor: 5.5 hearts
Chainmail: 4.0 hearts
Iron: 3.5
Diamond: 2.0
And for the amount of BoomBoxes available to buy, make it 4 BoomBoxes per team or shop. -
Literally anything that does area damage
As I explained in the previous section, area damage is important for countering this. Area Damage is key. You can have full creative freedom with this one.
In conclusion, not many people see this as a major issue, especially staff. This is for the sake of every Hive player, Treasure Wars or not. New players can turn into long time players and eventually make good friends & spend money on cosmetics and what not. I’m happy with the current state of Treasure Wars right now, not even hackers ruin my experience, every person who’s played Treasure Wars for long enough has experienced this and despise it in every way possible. I hope and pray that this issue gets atleast a simple solution.
Make sure to bring this to the attention of staff!
