Add ‘inviter’ rank to custom servers

The basic idea is that you can give people in a custom server an ‘inviter’ rank that allows them to invite people to the server and nothing more.

There is an “Editor” rank that allows people to change settings and not invite people, so my idea is to make that, but with inviting and no settings.

When you give people in a custom server the ‘Owner’ rank so they can invite people, then they can mess with the server settings. To prevent this, I want a way to invite people without giving them the ability to change the settings.

As an inviter, you could publish presets in the presets tab of the server. HOWEVER, you cannot load a preset, rather, just make it publicly available during the lobby waiting-for-the-start time of the server.

In addition to owner giving them permission to change settings, it also allows people to kick other players, which sometimes isn’t what you want.

Sometimes you just want people to invite and no more.

I know some of you will say that this is unnecessary because you can reload the settings with a preset and re-invite people, but it’s just a nice little quality-of-life feature I would love to see added, just to make custom server playing a little easier to handle.

One side note: There is ONE more problem with giving people you only want to invite owner: They can kick other players.

EDIT: Will the Hive team ever decide whether to close this or not? Been a while.

Thank you!!! It’s not actually my idea directly, but I unfortunately do not know the name of the person who gave it to me so I can’t credit them. :frowning: I met them in a cs and they were like, “There should be an inviter rank!”

for your help, you go to topics on the sidebar, and on the left of the page, you should see the +New Topic button. click on that make a new topic. :slight_smile:

This would be helpful if you are holding large cs events and want people to inv without changing something like a preset. I HOPE THIS IS ADDED!!!

You should also be able to publish presets as an Inviter that others can use in the Presets tab
