Heyo all 
I recently changed profile pictures, as you can see, and I came across that when you upload a profile picture you can not zoom-in or out on the picture to make it fit to how you want on the Forums (as far as I am aware).
My suggestion is that this feature should be added.

yes, all you can do is crop it with trial and error which takes time and is annoying.

I think it’s a discourse thing that Hive can’t manipulate sadly

Surely there is an add-on/plug-in or something? I dont really understand how it works so not sure.
Cropping things isn’t too hard really. I made my pfp by cropping a hive avatar, and it took like 5 minutes

I’m not a Discourse expert, but @Simartar is. (Or at least seems to be.)

If it’s not a base Discourse feature it’d have be added as plugin, and if there isn’t an existing one I doubt Hive would go through the process of trying to make one for a QOL feature. A quick search through the meta forum for Discourse doesn’t turn up any plugins that do what you’re requesting here so it likely doesn’t exist.
I’d figure your best bet is to use another service with the feature, see what the correct zoom is and then crop it to fit for the forum.
