A Live Music Event in The Hub

It would be cool if during The Hive’s birthday or new years The Hive does a live hub event where music is played, lighting effects are present and more.

Monstercat hosted a huge concert in Minecraft back in 2013 and thousands of players showed up. It was an amazing event that I’ll never forget anytime soon. A event like this but with the technology Mojang has provided featured servers today will be glorious without any doubt.

The Hive developers were likely there at the Monstercat concert since it was a really big event with huge YouTubers being present such as CaptainSparklez, AntVenom, SkyDoesMinecraft and more. So The Hive devs probably know how great this was as well.

I’d be willing to bet if The Hive asks Monstercat to partner together to re-create a concert like this but in Minecraft Bedrock they will happily accept.

Here’s a video of the Monstercat Minecraft concert:

EDIT: Looking more into this video you’ll probably need to tone down the flashing lights if you do decide to make a concert/festival like this lol

Also, this would be a great opportunity for a Monstercat costume  That’s if everything I mentioned in the suggestion goes to plan ofc

Really good idea! I think having more events would definitely bring players to the server! They would be really fun too!

This reminds me of the Marshmello and Travis Scott event from fortnite even though I didn’t attend it. But this is a good idea I am voting for this.

-this would be amazing, but there are flaws with this plan:

im sure they would, but monstercat makes music for other games and it would be hard for them to take time out of there day to preform a concert

ummmmm… maybe. hard to say for certain though, as they had their own server running at the time

-this is a great idea, but just not possible right now. the hive has multiple servers(lobbies) running at once, and they would have to use a thousands of npcs, thousands of 3d models, and also be able to host all of the people online at 1 time. that is A LOT of money and time spent for something that would be at 10 fps

-good idea. cant really do

This technically falls into the suggestion rules

  • Suggestions must be relative, realistic and implementable. No overpowered, copyrighted things.

Which includes collabs with other musicians

Monstercat have already stated they will not DMCA strike Twitch channels. There is a big question mark for YouTube content creators though. Perhaps If The Hive & Monstercat do collab then Monstercat can always agree to not claim any YouTube videos or streams on YouTube relating to the live event.

If it is not possible to collab with Monstercat then I guess The Hive could find a artist to create DMCA/copyright free music.

I just want to point out that the event doesn’t need to last for hours like the Monstercat 2013 concert did. If the event is made to celebrate new years eve/day then it can last around 10 - 20 mins.

Keep in mind that people’s PCs back in 2013 were about as good as android devices are today. Handheld devices have come a long way. I am sure most devices will be fine if the same lighting effects in that video are used during a Bedrock version of the concert in 2021.

You seem to be implying that the developers have almost never been on any other server except for theirs which is unrealistic ofc.
I am not certain that they were present during the Monstercat concert. But it’s quite likely. Almost everyone who played MC a lot in 2013 knew about this event.

This kind of reminds me of the Approaching Nirvana concert that was held on a server that supported both Java and Bedrock players.

Just found out that BlueMonkey, the person who was responsible for animating the Sonic models, was present at the Monstercat concert. He’s been in close contact with the Hive team for a very long time now I believe.

If The Hive developers were not there then I am sure BlueMonkey can share with the development team his experience with the concert. Perhaps BlueMonkey could also discuss with the developers on what a Hive music event may look like.

Handheld devices have come a long way.

true, but i have a pretty average gaming pc, and the sonic event lagged (i had probably 30 fps) due to how many people were there. my friend has an iphone 12 and his fps in the lobby is about 50. during the sonic event, he had about 25 fps. also, not everyone has good gaming pcs and good phones, and the hive is mostly mobile players/console players.

You seem to be implying that the developers have almost never been on any other server except for theirs which is unrealistic ofc.

the reason i said this is because i believe the hive java was just starting up/in the making. this would call for them to be a little busy at times, and not be able to do other things because of work

-it could be possible, but there is still a lot of errors, and probably cant be done right now

Are u suggesting a Travis Scott event

Seeing videos of that Monstercat concert brings back a lot of cool memories, it remains one of the coolest things I’ve experienced in Minecraft, despite it being over 8 years ago now :exploding_head:

Awesome sceenshots! I knew at least one of you on the Hive team had to be there  I wish I saved my screenshots of the event lol :frowning:

Also look at the chat in that video. The nostalgia is strong.

Remember people talking about the possibility of a Monstercat cape but in the end annoyed a Mojang developer because everyone was spamming them with #MonsterCape?
…I was part of that… sorry Mojang
