A Casual and Competitive mode for certain gamemodes

So theres a pretty big problem thats resonated in my mind for a while. and i honestly don’t care how controversial this will be.

Hive has seemingly lost its charm as a server for me. It seems like the atmosphere of the server has gotten way more competitive in every game. For instance: I can’t play one game of treasure wars without encountering a sweat player. Hide and Seek has people intentionally letting the seeker kill them so they can kill all the other hiders, which ruins the Hide part in Hide and Seek. And don’t even get me started on murder mystery’s teamer groups.

This is why my IRL best friend doesn’t play minecraft anymore, he got fed up with the tryhardyness of the server…

So in light of that, I wanted to throw this out there as an idea:

Have a Casual and a Competitive mode for certain games, (Except Just Build)

Here’s how they work:

Casual mode: Exactly what it sounds like. A mode for people who want to play the game for fun and not worry about tryhards and sweats. The Tradeoff being a reduction in gaining XP.
and in the case of Deathrun, your wins aren’t counted towards the leaderboard.

TO BE CLEAR: Your wins will still be in your stats, but wins in casual DR don’t count towards the leaderboard.

Anyone who trys to tryhard in casual repeatedly will be banned from casual for 2 hours and be required to play competitve for that time. this is to prevent sweats from invading casual games.

Competitive mode: Gives a decent XP boost and incentives for the tryhardy players. and also gives leaderboard incentives, i.e. quest points each month for your ranking.

So what if one mode is recieving really low traffic? Well for that time until the player count increases, competitive will be merged with casual to fill lobbies and get games started.

Thats it really, just wanted to get this off my chest.

This probably wont solve anything imo. People will always tryhard one way or another in any game whether that be Hive, Minecraft or any other outside game. I get that being so competitive is a problem for you and other casual players but this wont do much good for the server.

Also how would you know if someone is tryharding in the casual games?

This would help me alot but also wouldn’t. I am a relatively casual player, I don’t sweat, but I am probably more skilled then most players that consider themself casual. At the same time, I am too bad to be in competitive. I am also trying to gain XP and get max levels. This wouldn’t work for me unless if there was a 3rd mode, which would be pretty much casual but normal XP. At the same time, 3 or even just 2 modes would make the time for servers to fill up wayyy too long. I don’t see this working.

That actually just described my skills in pvp games so accurately wth

Hive hasn’t considered pbmm have they?

I think a better idea would be Platform Based Matchmaking, where the Hive will automatically try to put you in a lobby with others on the same platform (touch controls, controller, or kbm).

It might not always work perfectly 100% of the time, but pbmm would fix these issues.

I don’t think PBMM would work because you can, for example, connect a controller or keyboard to touchscreen.

PBMM is already a thing my guy

And they are already working to improve any inputs people have for their devices such as a keyboard connected a mobile phone like Captboss said

I kind of figured  well it doesn’t really work!

They are well aware of that
