Disclaimer: I recently did a revamp to the entire idea and gave it more thought and detail. To put it simply, I still really like this concept and hope it gets implemented into a big server someday. With my previous iteration for this suggestion, not a lot of thought was put into the balancing of the game. As a result, I decided to rethink the idea and make it better. Anyways, let’s dive into Beacon Attack…

The Basics
Essentially, Beacon Attack is an attack vs defense game where one team (The attackers) have to destroy a beacon on top of a tower in the center of the map in order for them to win. While the other team (The defenders) have to prevent the beacon from being destroyed in an 8 minute time-frame in order to win. However, in order for the beacon to be destroyed at all, the attackers have to destroy 4 cores that are each placed in their own corners of the map on separate islands. Beacon Attack has 16 players with 8 on each team. The attackers represent the red team, while the defenders represent the blue team. The attackers will spawn around the ring, while the defenders will spawn around the beacon. Before cores can be destroyed and PvP is enabled, there is a 30 second grace period that allows for the defenders to do their job and get ready. There are also chests placed around the map that can contain a pool of items. Here is what each chest can contain…

Map Design
Essentially, Beacon Attack has a ring-styled map design that takes place inside of a giant dome. Of course, we also have the four corner islands that contain each core and the giant island in the middle of the ring that contains the beacon and its tower. However, around the ring and its four corner islands, there is a giant circular wall where players can teleport in and out of to sneak to the four corner islands or find an upgrade capsule (More on that later). Speaking of the teleporters, there is one teleportation island in between each of the four core islands. That way, players can enter inside the giant circular wall. On the top of the giant circular wall, there are also four launch pads that can launch you back to the ring or onto the tower. However, using them is quite risky as you could launch yourself into the void.
Starting Items
Both the attackers and defenders each start with their own sets of items. After all, how are you gonna be able to play without starter items to help you out? Here are the items each player on each team will start with…

NOTE: You may have noticed that the defenders start with better tools even though they aren’t the ones that will be destroying the blocks that they surround the cores or the beacon with. Why is it that way, you may ask? Well, we players sometimes misplace blocks we use to defend our treasure in Treasure Wars. If that block is too hard to break with our fist or is too hard for our tools to break in a short timespan, what else will we be able to do? Not only that, but each defender has a limited supply of blocks that can be used to defend each core and the beacon. With those reasons, it seems fair that the defenders start off with good tools. After all, we don’t want to make it too easy for the attackers to break in, right? Anyways, let’s dive into what the upgrade capsules do…
What are Upgrade Capsules and what do they do?
Essentially, upgrade capsules are ways for both attackers and defenders to upgrade the gear they already have. With every kill, you get a chance to upgrade a piece of your gear. However, in order for your gear to be successfully upgraded, you have to wait 8 seconds inside the capsule. If someone from an opposing team hits the capsule, your upgrade time will be put to a halt and you will have to upgrade again if you kill the player disrupting you. If you die with any upgraded items, they will be moved down a tier every time you die. Anyways, here are the items that can be upgraded and what they can be upgraded to…

Having an upgrade system like this (In my opinion) would be smarter than having items lootable or buyable with a currency simply because not only does it require timing and skill to be able to upgrade, but it also adds a layer of depth to an already fleshed-out game. Anyways, let’s get into the rewards…

Conslusion
In conclusion, I think Beacon Attack would be a great and unique addition to Hive’s minigame roster. I have yet to see a game like this replicated on another server, and I think many players including myself would love to see how it could be implemented onto The Hive. Anyways, what do you think? Do you like this idea? If so, feel free to vote! If not, well… don’t vote.
