It may not be the best idea, but I feel as it could stop bowspamming.
If the spammer hits a single person 3 times with the bow in the spam of about 5 seconds, they start to take recoil damage which progressively gets stronger and negates armor. Each recoil damage starts at half a heart, followed by an entire heart, then 2 hearts, 4 hearts, and death (because 8 hearts would kill them almost guaranteed). A message will also display to the spammer “You are shooting too quickly, give it a break!” The recoil damage is taken upon the victim being hit once the spammer hits them 3 times in under 5 seconds.
This is a great idea, but there is one small problem, at least in my opinion, you can shoot someone 3 or more times in 5 seconds without bow spamming them. So instead of 3 shots every 5 seconds, it could be 1 arrow every second or something more reasonable. Still a good idea though
In some sort of way, I feel like it’s easier to get closer to them if they slow it down a bit. If they’re just shooting every other second, it’s near impossible to get close to them without an ender pearl (TW).
True, you totally have a point, but 2-3 shots every 5 seconds seems excessive, as in it makes it much harder, I know we are tying to stop bow spamming, but bows are meant to be used to shoot people.
One of the uses of bows can be to knock people off of unprotected bridges. Besides, charging up the shot does as much damage as like an iron sword. Like about 3 or so charged shots can kill an unarmored player.
I highly think that they should nerf the damage, or the charge time of the bow, if that’s possible. It can be very frustrating to almost kill an opponent, only for them to constantly run away and bow you, until you’re low and they go to finish you off. It is even more annoying when you’re trying to melee the other player, when the bow deals an absurd amount of damage and knocks you back 2 blocks. On top of that, they can do it repeatedly in a fast manner, so you’ll get knocked back more instead of getting closer but slowed down.
The farther away you are, the easier it is to evade the shots. And even when you’re very close, it’s easy to circle around them (especially if they’re mobile users).
