Explanation of Issue:
“They” in this situation is used as a singular neutral pronoun. The problem is that German doesn’t have an official neutral pronoun. “Sie” is e.g. often used to describe more than one person and is the “polite form” (I don’t know what to call it) for “you”. The Hive could use “Der Spieler” instead, which is more appropriate in this situation than “Sie”.
